Abstract

A system and method for receiving an electronic response to an advertisement that is wirelessly transmitted to a mobile wireless communications device involve routing a connection from the wireless communications device to a source based at least in part on a location of the mobile wireless communications device. A wireless communications device has an input and a display and, in response to an input indicating interest in that which is advertised, transmits its location for use in routing a connection with a source associated with the advertisement.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving an electronic response to an advertisement that has been digitally and wirelessly transmitted to a portable wireless communications device, wherein said electronic response to said advertisement comprises information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device, wherein said information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device is used to route a connection between said portable wireless communications device and a communications device associated with a source associated with said advertisement.

3. The method as set forth in claim 1, wherein said advertisement comprises contact information for use in contacting a source associated with said advertisement.

4. The method as set forth in claim 3, wherein said contact information comprises a telephone number.

5. The method as set forth in claim 3, wherein said contact information comprises an electronic address of a website.

6. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said electronic response is received at a source associated with said advertisement.

7. The method as set forth in claim 1 further comprising transmitting said advertisement to said portable wireless communications device.

8. The method as set forth in claim 7, wherein said electronic response is received at a location associated with said transmitting of said advertisement.

28. The system as set forth in claim 1, wherein said information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device comprises GPS data from a GPS unit in said portable wireless communications device.

9. A method comprising:

receiving an electronic response to an advertisement that has been digitally and wirelessly transmitted to a portable wireless communications device, wherein said electronic response to said advertisement comprises information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device, wherein said electronic response is received at a processor for routing a connection between the mobile wireless communications device and a source associated with said advertisement.

10. A system comprising:

a communications device that receives an electronic response to an advertisement that has been digitally transmitted to a mobile wireless communications unit, wherein said electronic response comprises data that is indicative of a location of said mobile wireless communications unit, wherein said data indicative of a location of said mobile wireless communications unit is used by said system in routing a connection between said mobile wireless communications unit and a source associated with said advertisement.

13. The system as set forth in claim 10, wherein said advertisement includes an identifier for use in establishing a communications link between said mobile wireless communications unit and said communications device of said system.

14. The system as set forth in claim 13, wherein said identifier comprises a telephone number and said communications link comprises a voice communications link.

15. The system as set forth in claim 14, wherein said communications device comprises a telephone device.

16. The system as set forth in claim 13, wherein said identifier comprises an electronic address and said communications link comprises a connection to a website.

17. The system as set forth in claim 16, wherein said communications device comprises a server that transmitted said advertisement to said mobile wireless communications unit.

18. The system as set forth in claim 16, wherein said communications device comprises a server that did not transmit said advertisement to said mobile wireless communications unit.

19. The system as set forth in claim 10 wherein said advertisement is for display on a display of said mobile wireless communications unit.

29. The system as set forth in claim 10, wherein said data indicative of a location of said mobile wireless communications unit comprises GPS data from a GPS unit in said mobile wireless communications unit.

20. A device comprising:

a portable wireless communications device comprising a display and an input component, wherein said wireless communications device wirelessly receives and outputs an advertisement and wherein, in response to an input at said input component, said portable wireless communications device transmits information to a source associated with said advertisement, wherein said information comprises information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device and said portable wireless communications device is placed in communication with another device based at least in part upon said information indicative of a location of said portable wireless communications device.

21. The device as set forth in claim 20, wherein said advertisement comprises contact information of said source and said wireless communications device corresponds said contact information with said input component.

22. The device as set forth in claim 21, wherein said display displays said advertisement.

23. The device as set forth in claim 20 further comprising a GPS device used for determining said location of said portable wireless communications device and a digital media player.

24. A system comprising:

a communications device that receives an electronic response to an advertisement that has been digitally transmitted to a mobile wireless communications unit, wherein said electronic response comprises data that is indicative of a location of said mobile wireless communications unit, wherein said received electronic response indicates an interest in purchasing goods or services advertised in said advertisement and said system uses said data indicative of a location in fulfilling a purchase.

25. The system as set forth in claim 24, wherein said communications device comprises a server that transmitted said advertisement to said mobile wireless communications unit.

26. The system as set forth in claim 24, wherein said communications device comprises a server that did not transmit said advertisement to said mobile wireless communications unit.

27. The system as set forth in claim 24, wherein said data indicative of a location of said mobile wireless communications unit comprises GPS data from a OPS unit in said portable wireless communications unit.
