a tunable band pass filter to pass only a predetermined wavelength range while tuning a wavelength; a first optical circulator to route a portion of an incoherent light to the tunable band pass filter, the incoherent light is outputted by the first BLS; a light source capable of lasing to output a first monitoring light over a fiber; a photo detector to receive a second monitoring light that includes the first monitoring light backscattered on the fiber; a second optical circulator coupled to the first optical circulator to input the incoherent light into the light source capable of lasing to route the first monitoring light outputted by the light source capable of lasing to the fiber, the second optical circulator routing a second monitoring light to the tunable band pass filter.
