Abstract

A station such as a telemedicine booth may send a request for medical service to a routing agent, which may route the request for medical service to a medical service provider. The routing may be based on one or more routing criteria, such as for example medical parameters of a user collected at the station and sent to the routing agent, location of a user, or quality of service indicators.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

accepting a medical service request originating at a telemedicine station at a routing agent; and

at the routing agent, routing the request for medical service to a medical service provider,

wherein the telemedicine station includes at least a user interface, a medical parameters capture system, and a communication system, and the routing agent includes at least a medical parameters collection system, a routing device, and a communications system.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein routing comprises:

routing the request for medical service to a medical service provider based on one or more routing criteria.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

medical parameters of a user collected at the telemedicine station and sent to the routing agent.

4. The method of claim 2 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

location based indicators.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

quality of service indicators.

6. The method of claim 2 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

availability and medical specialty of the medical service provider.

7. The method of claim 1 comprising:

authenticating an identity of the user before routing the request for medical service to a medical services provider.

8. The method of claim 1 comprising:

establishing a communications link between the telemedicine station and the routing agent;

wherein the telemedicine station is configured to accept the medical service request.

9. The method of claim 8 comprising:

establishing a communications link between the medical service provider and the telemedicine station.

10. The method of claim 9 comprising:

remotely dispensing medicine at the telemedicine station by the medical service provider.

11. The method of claim 9 wherein the link between the medical service provider and the telemedicine station comprises an audio link.

12. The method of claim 9 wherein the link between the medical service provider and the telemedicine station comprises a videoconferencing link.

13. The method of claim 1 comprising:

retrieving information by the routing agent from a stored patient record about a user requesting medical service.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the routing criteria comprises the retrieved information.

15. A method comprising:

at a routing agent for routing medical service requests to medical agents,

receiving a request for medical service from a user;

determining which medical agent among a plurality of medical agents to route data to based on one more routing criteria; and

routing the request for medical service to a medical agent.

16. The method of claim 15 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

medical parameters of the user collected at a telemedicine booth and sent to the routing agent.

17. The method of claim 15 wherein the one or more routing criteria comprise:

location based indicators.
