Abstract

A visualization system that preserves, augments or increases resolution of images within an industrial automation environment is provided. A reference component identifies, determines, or maps level of zooming or panning in connection with an image within an industrial automation environment, the image data located at a first source. A resolution component retrieves image data from a second sources that is different from the first source, the retrieved image data corresponding to specific portions of the image, the resolution component retrieving the image data from the second source as a function of the level of zooming or panning. A visualization component generates a visualization of the image, and receives the retrieved image data from the resolution component to preserve, augment, or enhance resolution of the image as a function of the zooming or panning.

Claims

1. A visualization system that preserves, augments or increases resolution of images within an industrial automation environment, comprising:

a reference component that identifies, determines, or maps level of zooming or panning in connection with an image within an industrial automation environment, the image data located at a first source;

a resolution component that retrieves image data from a second sources that is different from the first source, the retrieved image data corresponding to specific portions of the image, the resolution component retrieving the image data from the second source as a function of the level of zooming or panning; and

a visualization component that generates a visualization of the image, and receives the retrieved image data from the resolution component to preserve, augment, or enhance resolution of the image as a function of the zooming or panning.

2. The system of claim 1 comprising a context component that determines or infers context of a user with respect to zooming in on the image or panning across the image.

3. The system of claim 2, further comprising a data store that stores at least one of:

source address, filters, classifiers, preferences, profiles, design layout information, rules, or historical data in connection with generation and execution of the visualization.

4. The system of claim 1, comprising a search component that receives search queries and retrieves image data corresponding to the search queries.

5. The system of claim 1, the image data is a machine, and the resolution component retrieves and provides additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is zooming in on.

6. The system of claim 1, the image data is a machine, and the resolution component retrieves and provides additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is panning across.

7. A computer-implemented method for preserving, augmenting or increasing resolution of images within an industrial automation environment, comprising:

identifying, determining, or mapping level of zooming or panning in connection with an image within an industrial automation environment, the image data located at a local computer;

retrieving image data from a server, the retrieved image data corresponds to specific portions of the image, the image data is retrieved as a function of the level of zooming or panning; and

receiving the retrieved image data from the resolution component to preserve, augment, or enhance resolution of the image as a function of the zooming or panning.

8. The method of claim 7 comprising determining or inferring context of a user with respect to zooming in on the image or panning across the image.

9. The method of claim 7, comprising storing at least one of:

source address, filters, classifiers, preferences, profiles, design layout information, rules, or historical data in connection with generation and execution of the visualization.

10. The method of claim 7, comprising receiving search queries and retrieving image data corresponding to the search queries.

11. The method of claim 7, comprising retrieving and providing additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is zooming in on.

12. The method of claim 7, comprising retrieving and providing additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is panning across.

13. The method of claim 7 comprising receiving and presenting additional image data corresponding to images on a backside of a solid object being zoomed in on.

14. The method of claim 7 comprising receiving and presenting informational data corresponding to image data being viewed.

15. The method of claim 14 comprising replacing the informational data with new informational data as a function of zooming in on the image.

16. The method of claim 14 comprising replacing the informational data with new informational data as a function of panning across the image.

17. A computer-implemented system for preserving, augmenting or increasing resolution of images within an industrial automation environment, comprising:

means for identifying, determining, or mapping level of zooming or panning in connection with an image within an industrial automation environment, the image data located at a local computer;

means for retrieving image data from a server, the retrieved image data corresponds to specific portions of the image, the image data is retrieved as a function of the level of zooming or panning; and

means for receiving the retrieved image data from the resolution component to preserve, augment, or enhance resolution of the image as a function of the zooming or panning.

18. The system of claim 17 comprising means for determining or inferring context of a user with respect to zooming in on the image or panning across the image.

19. The system of claim 17, comprising means for storing at least one of:

source address, filters, classifiers, preferences, profiles, design layout information, rules, or historical data in connection with generation and execution of the visualization.

20. The system of claim 17, comprising means for receiving search queries and retrieving image data corresponding to the search queries.

21. The system of claim 17, comprising means for retrieving and providing additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is zooming in on.

22. The system of claim 17, comprising means for retrieving and providing additional image data corresponding to regions of the machine that a user is panning across.
