Abstract

A plurality of repeater devices, each of which may enable forwarding extreme high frequency (EHF) communication between EHF-enabled wireless devices, may form a repeater mesh network. One or more routes may be formed within the repeater mesh network to enable forwarding EHF RF signals via the repeater mesh network. Different technique may be utilized, while forming routes within the repeater mesh network, to reduce and/or prevent interference that might be caused by EHF RF signals received and/or transmitted by repeater devices in the routes to other repeater devices in the repeater mesh network. These techniques may comprise frequency shifting, spatial isolation, and/or polarization isolation. Multiple routes may be utilized simultaneously to forward EHF RF communication. The simultaneous use of multiple routes may enable increasing the bandwidth and/or improving reliability of forwarding EHF RF communication within the repeater mesh network.

Claims

1. A method for improving wireless communication, the method comprising:

enabling a first repeater device to forward extremely high frequency (EHF) signals from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, from a first wireless device to a second repeater device, from a second repeater device to a first wireless device or from a second repeater device to a third repeater, to extend a range of extremely high frequency (EHF) communication.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein said extremely high frequency (EHF) signals comprise 60 GHz signals.

3. The method according to claim 1, comprising forming routes within one or more of said first repeater device and second repeater device to enable said forwarding of said EHF signals.

4. The method according to claim 3, comprising utilizing one or more isolation techniques, in one or more of said plurality of first repeater device and said second repeater device, to enable said forming of said routes.

5. The method according to claim 4, wherein said one or more isolation techniques comprise spatial isolation, polarization isolation, and/or use of different frequencies in one or more of said first repeater device and said second repeater device.

6. The method according to claim 3, comprising simultaneously utilizing plurality of said routes while forwarding EHF signals between two or more of said first wireless device, said second wireless device, said first wireless repeater, and said second wireless repeater.

7. The method according to claim 6, comprising increasing bandwidth of data transmitted via said EHF signals via said simultaneous use of said plurality of routes.

8. The method according to claim 6, comprising enabling redundant transmission of said EHF signals by each of said plurality of routes via said simultaneous use of plurality of routes.

9. A machine-readable storage having stored thereon, a computer program having at least one code section for improving wireless communication, the at least one code section being executable by a machine for causing the machine to perform steps comprising:

enabling a first repeater device to forward extremely high frequency (EHF) signals from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, from a first wireless device to a second repeater device, from a second repeater device to a first wireless device or from a second repeater device to a third repeater, to extend a range of extremely high frequency (EHF) communication.

10. The machine-readable according to claim 9, wherein said extremely high frequency (EHF) signals comprise 60 GHz signals.

11. The machine-readable according to claim 9, wherein said at least one code section comprises code for forming routes within one or more of said first repeater device and second repeater device to enable said forwarding of said EHF signals.

12. The machine-readable storage according to claim 11, wherein said at least one code section comprises code for utilizing one or more isolation techniques, in one or more of said plurality of first repeater device and said second repeater device, to enable said forming of said routes.

13. The machine-readable storage according to claim 12, wherein said one or more isolation techniques comprise spatial isolation, polarization isolation, and/or use of different frequencies in one or more of said first repeater device and said second repeater device.

14. The machine-readable storage according to claim 11, wherein said at least one code section comprises code for simultaneously utilizing plurality of said routes while forwarding EHF signals between two or more of said first wireless device, said second wireless device, said first wireless repeater, and said second wireless repeater.

15. The machine-readable storage according to claim 14, wherein said at least one code section comprises code for increasing bandwidth of data transmitted via said EHF signals via said simultaneous use of said plurality of routes.

16. The machine-readable storage according to claim 14, wherein said at least one code section comprises code for enabling redundant transmission of said EHF signals by each of said plurality of routes via said simultaneous use of plurality of routes.

17. A system for wireless communication, the system comprising:

one or more circuits in a first repeater device that enable the first repeater device to forward extremely high frequency (EHF) signals from a first wireless device to a second wireless device, from a first wireless device to a second repeater, from a second repeater to a first wireless device or from a second repeater to a third repeater, to extend a range of extremely high frequency (EHF) communication.

18. The system according to claim 17, wherein said extremely high frequency (EHF) signals comprise 60 GHz signals.

19. The system according to claim 17, comprising forming routes within one or more of said first repeater device and second repeater device to enable said forwarding of said EHF signals.

20. The system according to claim 19, wherein said one or more circuits utilizes one or more isolation techniques, in one or more of said plurality of first repeater device and said second repeater device, to enable said forming of said routes.

21. The system according to claim 20, wherein said one or more circuits said one or more isolation techniques comprise spatial isolation, polarization isolation, and/or use of different frequencies in one or more of said first repeater device and said second repeater device.

22. The system according to claim 19, wherein said one or more circuits simultaneously utilizes plurality of said routes while forwarding EHF signals between two or more of said first wireless device, said second wireless device, said first wireless repeater, and said second wireless repeater.

23. The system according to claim 22, wherein said one or more circuits increases bandwidth of data transmitted via said EHF signals via said simultaneous use of said plurality of routes.

24. The system according to claim 22, wherein said one or more circuits enables redundant transmission of said EHF signals by each of said plurality of routes via said simultaneous use of plurality of routes.
