Abstract

A method and apparatus for allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) includes the WTRU transmitting a signature sequence to a Node B, receiving an acknowledge signal from the Node B, and determining a default resource index. The resource index is associated with enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) parameters.

Claims

1. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

the WTRU transmitting a signature sequence;

the WTRU receiving an acknowledge signal in response to the signature sequence; and

the WTRU determining a default resource index, wherein the resource index is associated with enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) parameters.

2. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

the WTRU receiving a list of resources over a broadcast channel, wherein the list of resources includes a resource allocation table.

3. The method as in claim 2 wherein the list of resources comprises enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) parameters.

4. The method as in claim 2 wherein the resources allocation table comprises a plurality of rows, each of the plurality of rows comprising a plurality of radio resource parameters.

5. The method as in claim 4 wherein the allocation message comprises an index pointing to a row.

6. The method as in claim 4 wherein a balance of resource allocation comprises the plurality of radio resource parameters.

7. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

the WTRU receiving an allocation message, wherein the allocation message includes a subset of a resource allocation configuration; and

the WTRU receiving a balance of a resource allocation configuration in a broadcast channel.

8. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) by a Node B, the method comprising:

the Node B detecting a preamble signature sequence;

the Node B determining if allocated resources are free; and

the Node B signaling on a communications channel.

9. The method as in claim 8 further comprising the Node B signaling an acknowledge (ACK) signal.

10. The method as in claim 8 further comprising the Node B signaling a non-acknowledge (NACK) signal.

11. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

the WTRU transmitting a signature sequence;

the WTRU receiving an acknowledge (ACK) signal;

the WTRU indexing a set of resources parameters based on the signature sequence.

12. A method of allocating resources to a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

the WTRU transmitting a signature sequence;

the WTRU receiving an acknowledge (ACK) signal;

the WTRU indexing a set of resource parameters based on a scrambling code index.

13. The method as in claim 12 further comprising the WTRU using an access slot and an access class to index the set of resource parameters.

16. The WTRU in claim 13 wherein the resources allocation table comprises a plurality of rows, each of the plurality of rows comprising a plurality of radio resource parameters.

17. The WTRU as in claim 13 wherein the processor is further configured to select radio resources and determine shared enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) resources based on an E-DCH to E-RACH mapping.

20. The WTRU as in claim 17 wherein the processor is further configured to use an access slot and an access class to index the set of resource parameters.

14. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a transmitter configured to transmit a signature sequence;

a receiver configured to receive an acknowledge (ACK) signal in response to the signature sequence and

a processor configured to determine the signature sequence, process the ACK signal, and determine a default resource index, wherein the resource index is associated with enhanced dedicated channel (E-DCH) parameters.

15. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a receiver configured to receive a list of resources over a broadcast channel, and

a processor configured to determine a resource allocation table from the broadcast channel.

18. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a receiver configured to receive an allocation message, wherein the allocation message includes a subset of a resource allocation configuration, and a balance of a resource allocation configuration in a broadcast channel; and

a processor configured to determine a resource allocation based on the allocation message and the balance of the resource allocation configuration.

19. A wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a transmitter configured to transmit a signature sequence to a Node B;

a receiver configured to receive an acknowledge (ACK) signal; and

a processor configured to index a set of resource parameters based on the signature sequence land a scrambling code index.
