Abstract

A mobile telecommunications includes a mobile phone module. A printer module is operatively connected to the mobile phone module and includes a print engine controller. A tag sensor module is operatively connected to the mobile phone module and includes an image sensor and processor.

Claims

1. A mobile telecommunications device comprising:

a mobile phone module;

a printer module operatively connected to the mobile phone module and including a print engine controller; and

a tag sensor module operatively connected to the mobile phone module and including an image sensor and processor.

A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the printer module includes a program memory connected to the print engine controller for storing program code for execution by the print engine controller and a working memory for storing data used and generated by the program code.

3. A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the printer module includes a quality assurance integrated circuit for authenticating a printhead cartridge to be used by the telecommunications device.

4. A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the print engine controller is configured to connect operatively with a printhead of the printhead cartridge to control operation of the printhead.

5. A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the printer module includes media sensors that are operatively connected to the print engine controller to sense the presence of media in the device.

6. A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the tag sensor module includes a contact sensor connected to the image processor and an illumination LED such that the image sensor and illumination LED can be activated by the contact sensor.

7. A mobile telecommunications device as claimed in claim 1, in which the tag sensor module includes an image memory in which an image captured by the image sensor is stored.
