Abstract

There is provided an exhaled breath moisture reduction system including a dryer mechanism and a connector adapted to connect the dryer mechanism proximate to a respiratory output device. There is also provided an exhaled breath sampling assembly including an airway adaptor and a moisture reduction sleeve comprising a material adapted to reduce moisture and a connector adapted to connect said sleeve substantially adjacent to a breath sampling inlet within the adaptor. Also provided, a method of sampling breath which includes attaching an exhaled breath moisture reduction sleeve substantially adjacent to a breath sampling inlet.

Claims

1. An exhaled breath moisture reduction system comprising:

a dryer mechanism; and

a connector adapted to connect said dryer mechanism proximate to a respiratory output device.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein proximate is about 1 cm or less.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein proximate is about 3 cm or less.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein said dryer mechanism comprises a reinforcing element.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising a gripper.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein said gripper comprises an insulating material.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein said dryer mechanism comprises a material adapted to absorb moisture.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein said dryer mechanism comprises a material adapted to pass moisture.

9. An exhaled breath moisture reduction system comprising:

a dryer mechanism adjacent to a connector adapted to connect said dryer mechanism to a respiratory output device, wherein said dryer mechanism comprises a reinforcing element.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein adjacent is about 1 cm or less.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein adjacent is about 0.5 cm or less.

16. An exhaled breath moisture reduction sleeve comprising:

a material adapted to reduce moisture; and

a connector adapted to connect said sleeve substantially adjacent to a breath sampling inlet.

17. The sleeve of claim 16, wherein adjacent is about 1 cm or less.

18. The sleeve of claim 16, wherein adjacent is about 3 cm or less.

24. An exhaled breath sampling assembly comprising:

an airway adaptor;

a moisture reduction sleeve comprising a material adapted to reduce moisture; and

a connector adapted to connect said sleeve substantially adjacent to a breath sampling inlet within said adaptor.

25. The assembly of claim 24, wherein said dryer mechanism is wound around said airway adaptor.

26. The assembly of claim 24, wherein adjacent is about 1 cm or less.

27. The assembly of claim 24, wherein adjacent is about 3 cm or less.

28. The assembly of claim 24, wherein said sleeve comprises a dryer mechanism which comprises a reinforcing element.

29. The assembly of claim 24, further comprising a gripper.

33. A breath analyzer comprising:

a moisture reduction sleeve comprising a material adapted to reduce moisture; and

a connector adapted to connect said sleeve substantially adjacent to a breath sampling inlet.

34. The analyzer of claim 33, wherein adjacent is about 1 cm or less.

35. The analyzer of claim 33, wherein adjacent is about 3 cm or less.

36. The analyzer of claim 33, wherein said sleeve comprises a dryer mechanism which comprises a reinforcing element.
