Abstract

Systems and methods that provide for adaptive processes in an industrial setting. Historian data, in conjunction with current collected data, can be converted into decision making information that is subsequently employed for modifying a process in real time. A process trend component, which is associated with a controller, can access historian data (e.g., trends collected via historians) to determine/predict an outcome of a current industrial process. Such enables a tight control and short reaction time to correcting process parameters.

Claims

1. An industrial automation system, comprising:

a plurality of embedded historians that collect data associated with the industrial automation system; and

a process trend component that accesses historical data to predict a process outcome of the industrial automation system.

2. The industrial automation system of claim 1 further comprising a quality analysis system that performs quality analysis ahead of processing.

3. The industrial automation system of claim 1 further comprising an organizational hierarchy data model with nodes that represent units associated with the industrial automation system.

4. The industrial automation system of claim 1 further comprising an artificial intelligence component that facilitates identification of desired data within a network application.

5. The industrial automation system of claim 1 further comprising a Human Machine Interface (HMI) to graphically display a view of the industrial automation system.

6. The industrial system of claim 1, the embedded historians associated with at least one of a controller, a module in a chassis, a server, a sensor, and a factory component.

7. The industrial system of claim 3, the organizational hierarchy data model employs metadata for identification of embedded historians to a discovery component.

8. The industrial system of claim 1, further comprising a publish and subscribe component that identifies embedded historians to the discovery component.

9. A method of adapting processes in an industrial process within an industrial plant comprising:

collecting historian data related to an industrial process;

converting the historian data into decision making information; and

modifying the industrial process in real time based on the historian data.

10. The method of claim 9 further comprising automatically downloading data to a central plant historian.

11. The method of claim 9 further comprising employing the historian data for future trouble shooting.

12. The method of claim 9 further comprising employing a directory to track source of data.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising predicting outcome of the industrial process.

14. The method of claim 12 further comprising configuring historians according to a predetermined setting.

15. The method of claim 12 further comprising storing data until a predetermined threshold is reached.

16. The method of claim 12 further comprising creating tags for a default collection.

17. The method of claim 12 further comprising collecting data based on triggering events

18. The method of claim 12 further comprising servicing embedded historians via a data base.

19. The method of claim 12 further comprising defining a common organizational data model for the industrial plant.

20. An industrial controller system comprising:

collection means for collecting historian data related to an industrial process; and

means for predicting an outcome of the industrial process via the historian data.
