Abstract

A method and system includes a first device having an ordering interface and forming a recording command comprising a linear channel, a start time, time duration and date. The first device communicates a customer identifier and the recording command to a content processing system corresponding to the linear content. The content processing system forms a control word from the recording command and communicates the control word to a user device. The user device receives the content corresponding to the recording command in response to the control word.

Claims

1. A method of ordering content comprising:

accessing an ordering interactive interface;

forming a recording command comprising a linear channel, a start time, a time duration and date;

communicating a customer identifier and recording command to a content processing system corresponding to the linear content;

forming a control word from the recording command;

communicating the control word to a user device; and

receiving the content corresponding to the recording command at the user device in response to the control word.

2. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising in response to communicating a control word, sending an email indicating the control word was sent to the user device.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein after receiving, storing the content in a memory of the user device.

4. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein accessing an ordering interactive interface comprises entering the customer identifier and password.

5. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein forming a recording command comprises forming a recording command from a menu on a mobile device.

6. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein forming a recording command comprises forming a recording command from a menu.

7. A method as recited in claim 6 wherein forming a recording command comprises pre-filling the menu a linear channel with a time duration.

8. A method as recited in claim 6 wherein forming a recording command comprises pre-filling the menu a linear channel with a time duration and date.

9. A method as recited in claim 6 wherein forming a recording command comprises pre-filling the menu a linear channel with a date.

10. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein communicating the control word comprises communicating the control word through a satellite.

11. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein communicating the control word comprises communicating the control word through a broadband communication system.

12. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein communicating the control word comprises communicating the control word through a terrestrial system.

13. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein receiving the content comprises receiving the content through a satellite.

14. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein receiving the content comprises receiving the content through a broadband communication system.

15. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein receiving the content comprises receiving the content through a terrestrial system.

16. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein communicating the control word comprises communicating the control word through a satellite and wherein receiving the content comprises receiving the content through a satellite.

17. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein communicating a control word comprises communicating the control word through a satellite and wherein receiving the content comprises receiving the content through a broadband communication system.

18. A method as recited in claim 1 wherein the user device comprises a satellite television set top box.

19. A system comprising:

a first device having an ordering interface and forming a recording command comprising a linear channel, a start time, time duration and date, said mobile device communicating a customer identifier and the recording command to a content processing system corresponding to the linear content;

said content processing system forming a control word from the recording command and communicating the control word to a user device; and

said user device receiving the content corresponding to the recording command in response to the control word.

20. A system as recited in claim 19 wherein the ordering interface is pre-filled with a date.

21. A system as recited in claim 19 wherein the ordering interface is pre-filled with a date and start time.

22. A system as recited in claim 19 wherein the content comprises linear content.

23. A system as recited in claim 19 further comprising a satellite in communication with the content processing system communicating the control word therethrough.

24. A system as recited in claim 19 further comprising a broadband communication system communication with the content processing system communicating the control word therethrough.

25. A system as recited in claim 19 wherein the user device comprises a satellite television set top box and the first device comprises a mobile device.
