A method for displaying images,in which image data from the area surrounding a vehicle are recorded by means of a camera,in which objects (2, 3, 4, 5) in the recorded image data are identified by means of an object identification device,and in which at least some of the image data (1) are at least partially displayed on a display,wherein at least some of the identified objects (2, 3, 4, 5) are highlighted in the image data (1),wherein the highlighting of the identified objects (2, 3, 4, 5) is carried out in such a waythat the displayed image data (1) are divided into two types of region,wherein the first type of region comprises the identified objects (2, 3, 4, 5) which are to be highlighted and a surrounding region (2a, 3a, 4a) which respectively directly adjoins said objects in a corresponding manner,and wherein the second type of region comprises those image data (1) which have not been assigned to the first type of region,and in that the image data of the two types of region are manipulated in different ways.

Abstract
Assistance systems are increasingly being used to assist vehicle drivers when driving their vehicles. To this end, a camera is used to record image data from the area surrounding a vehicle, and at least some of the image data (1) are shown on a display following object identification and image processing. After the image data have been recorded by the camera, they are processed using object identification in order to identify objects (2, 3) in the recorded image data. At least some of the objects (2, 3) which have been identified in this manner are highlighted when showing the image data (1) on the display. In this case, the identified objects (2, 3) are highlighted in such a manner that the image data (1) to be shown are divided into two types of regions. In this case, the first type of region comprises the objects (2, 3) which have been identified and are to be highlighted and a surrounding region (2a, 3a) which respectively directly adjoins the latter in a corresponding manner. The second type of region then comprises those image data (1) which have not been assigned to the first type of region. The objects in the image data (1) are then highlighted in such a manner that the image data of both types of regions are manipulated in different ways.

comprising an object identification device for identifying objects (2, 3, 4, 5) in the recorded image data, and comprising a display for displaying at least parts of the recorded image data, wherein an image processing device is provided which manipulates the image data in such a way that at least some of said data are displayed highlighted on the display, wherein the image display comprises a means for dividing the image data at least into two types of region, wherein the first type of region comprises the identified objects (2, 3, 4, 5) which are to be highlighted and the surrounding region (2a, 3a, 4b) which respectively directly adjoins said objects in a corresponding manner, and wherein the second type of region comprises those image data (1) which have not been assigned to the first type of region.
