Blood Component Measurement Device and Chip for Blood Measurement
First Claim
1. A blood component measurement device comprising;
- a tip for blood measurement comprising a puncture needle possessing an axis and movable for being advanced and retreated in an axial direction of the needle;
a contact section which has a cavity permitting said puncture needle to pass therethrough and which comes into contact with a skin;
a measurement unit for measuring a component of blood sampled; and
a blood introduction section spaced from said puncture needle in a direction substantially orthogonal to the axis of said puncture needle and communicating with said measurement unit, andafter the skin is punctured by said puncture needle, said blood introduction section is displaced in a direction substantially orthogonal to the axis of said puncture needle and the axial direction of said puncture needle toward the skin.

Abstract
A blood component measurement device (10) has a puncturing unit (18) provided inside a housing (12) and having a puncture needle (16); a button unit (20) for advancing and retreating the puncture needle (16); a contact mechanism (68) coming into contact with the skin of a person to be measured; and a holder (14) for displaceably holding the puncturing unit (18). The blood component measurement device (10) also has an introduction section (94) at the substantially center of a contact member (70). After the skin is punctured by the puncture needle (16) provided at the substantially center of the mechanism (68), the introduction section (94) introduces blood to testing paper (100) when the contact member (70) of the contact mechanism (68) is displaced in a sliding manner along a guide member (72).

12. A tip for blood component measurement comprising;
-
a puncture needle possessing an axis, the needle being movable in an axial direction of the needle to perform advancing movement and retracting movement; a contact section adapted to contact skin and having a cavity through which the needle is moved during the advancing movement of the needle; a measurement unit for measuring a component of blood sampled; a blood introduction section spaced from the puncture needle in a direction substantially orthogonal to the axis of the puncture needle and in communication with the measurement unit; a guide block having a guide block surface in sliding contact with a contact section surface of the contact section so that relative movement between the contact section and the guide block is permitted; the puncture needle and the blood introduction section being provided on the guide block; at least one of the guide block surface and the contact section surface being a slanting surface that is obliquely oriented relative to the axis of the needle so that the relative movement is in a direction oblique to the axis of the needle. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15)

16. A tip for blood component measurement comprising;
-
a contact section adapted to be contacted by skin of a patient whose blood component is to be measured, the contact section comprising a through hole; a guide section positioned adjacent the contact section and comprising a needle movably mounted in a holding hole in the guide block for movement in an advancing direction relative to the contact section to move a tip end of the needle through the through hole of the contact section to puncture the skin and thereby result in a blood sample, the holding hole possessing an axis; the guide block comprising a blood introduction part comprised of an introduction port and a passage, the introduction port being orthogonally spaced from the axis of the holding hole; the guide block being provided with a recess adapted to receive a test paper impregnated with a reagent; the recess in the guide block communicating with the introduction port by way of the passage so that the blood sample introduced into the introduction port is conveyed to the recess by way of the passage, the introduction port being spaced from the axis of the needle; a measurement unit positioned in opposition to the recess to measure a component in the blood sample; the contact section and the guide section being relatively movable between a first relative position in which the tip end of the needle is located in a first region of the through hole while the introduction port is spaced from said first region, and a second relative position in which the introduction port is located in said first region of the through hole while the tip end of the needle is spaced from said first region. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)

21. A method for obtaining a blood sample comprising:
-
pressing a body part against a contact section which possesses a through hole; moving a needle in an advancing direction through the through hole in the contact section to puncture skin of the body part at a puncture site with a tip end of the needle to result in a blood sample, the tip end of the needle possessing an axis and being located in a first region of the through hole during puncture of the skin, the needle being mounted in a guide block which is movable relative to the control section, the guide block including a blood introduction port connected to a passage, the blood introduction port being orthogonally spaced from the axis of the tip end of the needle and outside the first region; relatively moving the guide block and the contact section after the puncture of the skin to move the tip end of the needle away from said first region of the through hole of the contact section and to move the introduction port into the first region of the through hole of the contact section so that the introduction port is positioned adjacent the puncture site; the blood sample at the puncture site being introduced into the introduction port and supplied to a test paper containing a reagent; and measuring a component in the blood sample supplied to the test paper. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23)
