Abstract

A user interface is programmed to create a scorecard. The interface includes a scorecard module including a column area and a row area, and a key performance indicator area including a plurality of key performance indicators. A key performance indicator from the key performance indicator area can be dragged and dropped onto one of the column area and the row area to add indicia associated with the key performance indicator to the scorecard.

Claims

1. A user interface programmed to create a scorecard, the user interface comprising:

a scorecard module including a column area and a row area; and

a key performance indicator area including a plurality of key performance indicators;

wherein a key performance indicator from the key performance indicator area is programmed to be dragged and dropped onto one of the column area and the row area to add indicia associated with the key performance indicator to the scorecard.

2. The user interface of claim 1, further comprising one or more templates that define pre-configured layouts for the scorecard.

3. The user interface of claim 1, further comprising one or more measure filters that are programmed to be applied to the key performance indicator in the scorecard.

4. The user interface of claim 1, further comprising a wizard programmed to assist a user in creating the scorecard.

5. The user interface of claim 4, wherein the wizard includes a plurality of interfaces that allow the user to define aspects of the scorecard including data sources, measure filters, and columns.

6. A method for creating a scorecard using a wizard, the method comprising:

displaying a first screen including a plurality of templates;

allowing for selection of one of the plurality of templates;

displaying a second screen including a plurality of data sources;

allowing for selection of one of the plurality of data sources;

displaying a third screen including a plurality of key performance indicators relating to the one selected data source; and

allowing for selection of one of the plurality of key performance indicators.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

displaying a fourth screen including a plurality of measure filters that can be applied to the key performance indicator;

allowing for selection of one of the plurality of measure filters;

displaying a fifth screen including a plurality of columns associated with the key performance indicator; and

allowing for selection of one of the plurality of columns.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising presenting the first, second, and third screens in sequence in the wizard.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising allowing additional key performance indicators of the plurality of key performance indicators to be dragged and dropped onto the scorecard.

10. The method of claim 6, further comprising allowing an actual value to be set for the key performance indicator.

11. The method of claim 6, further comprising allowing one or more targets to be set for the key performance indicator.

12. The method of claim 6, further comprising allowing a tracking band to be defined for the key performance indicator.

13. A method for editing a scorecard, the method comprising:

adding, moving, or removing a key performance indicator from the scorecard by dragging and dropping the key performance indicator item; and

updating column and row totals for the scoreboard when the items are added, moved or removed.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the user is given on-screen hints as to where to locate the key performance indicator on the scorecard.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising adding, moving, or removing metrics, aggregations, dimensions, properties and named sets from the scorecard by dragging and dropping.

16. The method of claim 13, further comprising adding, moving, or removing metrics, aggregations, dimensions, properties and named sets from the scorecard by dragging and dropping.

17. The method of claim 13, further comprising selecting an update button to update data in the scorecard from a data source.

18. The method of claim 13, further comprising allowing additional key performance indicators to be dragged and dropped onto the scorecard.

19. The method of claim 13, further comprising allowing an actual value to be set for the key performance indicator.

20. The method of claim 13, further comprising allowing one or more targets to be set for the key performance indicator.
