1. An energy delivery device for applying energy from an energy source to treat a target region beneath a surface of tissue, the device comprising:

  • a device body having a handle portion, a cartridge receiving surface, an actuator adjacent thereto and a plurality of electrically conductive leads on at least a portion of the cartridge receiving surface and being electrically coupleable to the energy source, where the actuator is moveable relative to the device body;

    a cartridge body removably coupled to the device body on the cartridge receiving surface, the cartridge body comprising an electrode assembly in engagement with the actuator, the electrode assembly having a plurality of electrodes arranged in an array and where at least one electrode has a connection portion, the electrode assembly being moveable between a treatment position and a retracted position upon movement of the actuator, such that in the treatment position the at least one electrode extends from the cartridge body and the respective connection portion engages one electrically conductive lead, and in the retracted position, the at least one electrode retracts into the cartridge and the respective connection portion moves out of engagement with the electrically conductive lead preventing delivery of energy.
