1. A wireless communication device configured to provide wireless communication to a host device when disposed in a mated position in a slot having a primary axis and formed in a side face of the host device, the wireless communication device comprising:
- a transceiver;
a controller in communication with the transceiver;
a modem in communication with the controller; and
a balanced antenna in communication with the transceiver and having a polarization axis that is parallel to the side face and to the primary axis of the slot when the wireless communication device is in the mated position.
