Abstract

A mobile terminal and multimedia message processing method thereof is provided for efficiently processing a multimedia message composed of multiple pages. A multimedia message processing method of the present invention includes receiving a message arrival alert containing a preview page selected among multiple pages constituting a multimedia message; displaying the preview page; determining whether an event allowing or rejecting download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message is received; and rejecting, when an event for rejecting download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message is received, download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message. The multimedia message processing method of the present invention allows a user to determine whether to download the entire multimedia message after viewing a preview page carried by a message arrival alert, thereby avoiding download of unwanted multimedia message, resulting in reduction of data service cost and improvement of memory utilization.

Claims

1. A multimedia message processing method for a mobile terminal, comprising:

receiving a message arrival alert containing a preview page selected among two or more pages constituting a multimedia message;

displaying the preview page;

determining whether an event allowing or rejecting a download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message; and

rejecting, when an event for rejecting the download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message is received, the download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message or

allowing, when an event for allowing the download of remaining pages of the multimedia message is received, the download of the remaining pages of the multimedia message.

2. The multimedia message processing method of claim 1, wherein the preview page is a first page or a smallest size page among the two or more pages constituting the multimedia message.

3. The multimedia message processing method of claim 2, wherein determining whether an event allowing or rejecting a download is received comprises:

displaying, when an event for allowing a download of the remaining pages is detected, two or more available download options; and

detecting selection of one of the two or more available download options.

4. The multimedia message processing method of claim 3, wherein the available download options comprise “

display next page”

, “

display selected page”

, and “

display whole pages”

.

5. A multimedia message processing method for a mobile terminal, comprising:

receiving a message arrival alert for indicating an arrival of a multimedia message comprising two or more pages; and

downloading at least one of the two or more pages.

6. The multimedia processing method of claim 5, wherein the message arrival alert comprises a caller'"'"'s phone number, a message identification (ID) and header information of the multimedia message.

7. The multimedia processing method of claim 6, wherein the header information comprises a page information for structuring blank pages corresponding to the pages of the multimedia message.

8. The multimedia processing method of claim 7, wherein downloading at least one of the two or more pages comprises:

creating and displaying two or more blank pages corresponding to the two or more pages based on the page information;

selecting at least one of the two or more blank pages;

downloading the pages corresponding to the selected blank pages; and

displaying the downloaded pages in place of the corresponding blank pages.

9. The multimedia processing method of claim 8, wherein the blank pages are selected in sequential or random order.

10. The multimedia processing method of claim 9, further comprising:

downloading the remaining pages in response to a download confirmation command; and

rejecting download of the remaining pages in response to a download rejection command.

11. A mobile terminal comprising:

a radio frequency unit which receives a radio signal carrying a preview page selected among two or more pages constituting a multimedia message;

a display unit which displays the preview page; and

a control unit which starts or rejects a download of the remaining pages according to a user'"'"'s input.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 11, wherein the preview page is a first or a smallest size page among the two or more pages of the multimedia message.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 12, wherein the control unit displays, when a predetermined display time has expired or a next page display command is input, two or more download options and performs download of the remaining pages according to a download option selected by a user.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 13, wherein the download options comprise “

display next page”

, “

display selected page”

, “

display whole pages”

, and “

reject download”

.

15. A mobile terminal comprising:

a radio frequency unit which receives a radio signal carrying a message arrival alert for indicating an arrival of a multimedia message composed of two or more pages;

a control unit which downloads at least one of the pages in response to the message arrival alert; and

a memory unit for storing the at least one page downloaded by the control unit.

16. The mobile terminal of claim 15, wherein the message arrival alert comprises a caller'"'"'s phone number and a message identification (ID) and header information of the multimedia message.

17. The mobile terminal of claim 16, wherein the header information header information comprises a page information for structuring two or more blank pages corresponding to the two or more pages of the multimedia message.

18. The mobile terminal of claim 17, further comprising:

a display unit which displays the two or more blank pages corresponding to the two or more pages of the multimedia message; and

an input unit which receives an input selecting one of the two or more blank pages,

wherein the control unit controls a download of the pages of the multimedia message corresponding to the selected blank page.

19. The mobile terminal of claim 18, wherein the blank pages are selected in sequential or random order.

20. The mobile terminal of claim 19, wherein the control unit downloads the remaining pages in response to a download confirmation command, and rejects a download of the remaining pages in response to a download rejection command.
