The apparatus further comprising a monitoring means for monitoring data traffic, e.g. USB bus signals, associated with a master device such as a personal computer, and a controller for interrupting power to the at least one slave electrical outlet in response to the monitoring means detecting a prescribed change in the data traffic of the master device.
