A method of filtering irrelevant items from a search operation using machine-readable emotional codes between a search entity having a search entity emotional code and a plurality of database entities, each of said database entities having an entity emotional code, said emotional codes being category labels out of a plurality of categories, said plurality of categories generated by categorizing user responses, said user responses captured when said user selects items from a plurality of choices, said selection revealing said user'"'"'s emotional preferences, said method comprising the steps of:

  • obtaining said search entity from an operator who conducts said search operation on a first computer;

    using said search entity emotional code to define a peripheral region;

    connecting to a database on a second computer that comprises said plurality of database entities;

    retrieving a plurality of matched database entities, each of said matched database entities having an emotional code falling within said peripheral region; and

    presenting said plurality of matched database entities to said operator.
