Abstract

A mobile terminal including a broadcast receiver configured to receive broadcast program information related to available broadcast programs, a memory configured to store user-schedule information and the received broadcast program information, and a controller configured to update the stored user-schedule information to include a broadcast schedule corresponding to a broadcast program selected from the available broadcast programs included in the broadcast program information.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal comprising:

a broadcast receiver configured to receive broadcast program information related to available broadcast programs;

a memory configured to store user-schedule information and the received broadcast program information; and

a controller configured to update the stored user-schedule information to include a broadcast schedule corresponding to a broadcast program selected from the available broadcast programs included in the broadcast program information.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a display configured to display the available broadcast programs included in the broadcast program information; and

an input unit configured to allow a user to select the broadcast program from the displayed available broadcast programs.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the received broadcast program information comprises a program guide including at least starting times of the available broadcast programs, and

wherein the broadcast schedule included in the user-schedule information includes at least a starting time of the selected broadcast program.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the broadcast schedule further includes at least one of an ending time of the selected broadcast program, a title of the selected broadcast program, and additional contents related to the selected broadcast program.

The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to display a calendar upon receiving a schedule management request, and to display the program guide including available broadcast programs for a particular date selected on the displayed calendar, and

wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a broadcast program selected from the broadcast programs on the particular date selected.

6. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a user-preferred broadcast program included in a list of user-preferred broadcast programs stored in the memory.

7. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a display configured to display a keyword search window; and

an input unit configured to allow a user to input a keyword in the keyword search window,

wherein the controller is further configured to search the stored broadcast program information for any broadcast programs that include the input keyword, and to control the display to display said any broadcast programs that include the input keyword, and

wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a broadcast program selected from the displayed said any broadcast programs that include the input keyword.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 1, further comprising:

a display configured to display a current broadcast program; and

an input unit configured to allow a user to input a command requesting the controller to update the user-schedule information to include the currently displayed broadcast program.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the broadcast schedule is integrated with the user-scheduled information.

10. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to output an alarm or notification in at least one of a visual manner, an audible manner, and a tactile manner to notify that the selected broadcast program is about to be broadcast.

11. A method of controlling a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

receiving broadcast program information related to available broadcast programs;

storing user-schedule information and the received broadcast program information; and

updating the stored user-schedule information to include a broadcast schedule corresponding to a broadcast program selected from the available broadcast programs included in the broadcast program information.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

displaying the available broadcast programs included in the broadcast program information; and

allowing a user to select the broadcast program from the displayed available broadcast programs.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the received broadcast program information comprises a program guide including at least starting times of the available broadcast programs, and

wherein the broadcast schedule included in the user-schedule information includes at least a starting time of the selected broadcast program.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the broadcast schedule further includes at least one of an ending time of the selected broadcast program, a title of the selected broadcast program, and additional contents related to the selected broadcast program.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

displaying a calendar upon receiving a schedule management request and the program guide including available broadcast programs for a particular date selected on the displayed calendar, and

wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a broadcast program selected from the broadcast programs on the particular date selected.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a user-preferred broadcast program included in a list of user-preferred broadcast programs stored in the memory.

17. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

displaying a keyword search window;

receiving a user input keyword in the keyword search window;

searching the stored broadcast program information for any broadcast programs that include the input keyword; and

displaying said any broadcast programs that include the input keyword,

wherein the selected broadcast program corresponds to a broadcast program selected from the displayed said any broadcast programs that include the input keyword.

18. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

displaying a current broadcast program; and

receiving a user input command to update the user-schedule information to include the currently displayed broadcast program.

19. The method of claim 11, wherein the broadcast schedule is integrated with the user-scheduled information.

20. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

outputting an alarm or notification in at least one of a visual manner, an audible manner, and a tactile manner to notify that the selected broadcast program is about to be broadcast.
