Abstract

An embodiment relates generally to a method of editorial control. The method includes providing for at least one piece of content and determining a set of banned tags. Each banned tag is prevented from being applied to the at least one piece of content. The method also includes associating the set of banned tags to the at least one piece of content as a policy and receiving a tag term for the at least one piece of content at the first website. The method further includes comparing the tag term with the policy.

Claims

1. A method of editorial control, the method comprising:

providing for at least one piece of content;

determining a set of banned tags, each banned tag being prevented from being applied to the at least one piece of content;

associating the set of banned tags to the at least one piece of content as a policy;

receiving a tag term for the at least one piece of content at the first website; and

comparing the tag term with the policy.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising applying the tag term to the at least one piece of content in response to the tag term not matching any of the banned tags in the set of banned tags.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising discarding the tag term in response to the tag term matching any of the banned tags in the set of banned tags.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a second policy associated with the at least one piece of content.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising comparing any currently applied tag terms to the at least one piece of content with the second policy.

6. The method of claim 5, discarding any currently applied tag terms that violate the second policy.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the set of banned tags is user selected.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing for a set of predetermined policies;

selecting at least one predetermined policy; and

associating the at least one predetermined policy to determine the set of banned tags.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising adding additional user-selected tag terms to the set of banned tags.

10. The method of editorial control, the method comprising:

providing for at least one piece of content;

determining a set of banned tags, each banned tag being prevented from being applied to the at least one piece of content;

associating the set of banned tags to the at least one piece of content as a policy; and

providing for syndication the at least one piece of content and the policy to other websites.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

receiving a tag term for the at least one piece of content; and

comparing the tag term with the policy.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising applying the tag term to the at least one piece of content in response to the tag term not matching any of the banned tags in the set of banned tags.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising discarding the tag term in response to the tag term matching any of the banned tags in the set of banned tags.

14. The method of claim 10, further comprising receiving a second policy associated with the at least one piece of content.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising comparing any currently applied tag terms to the at least one piece of content with the second policy.

16. The method of claim 14, discarding any currently applied tag terms that violate the second policy.

17. A method of editorial control, the method comprising:

receiving at least one piece of content and an associated policy;

publishing the at least one piece of content;

receiving a tag term for the at least one piece of content; and

applying the tag term to the at least one piece of content in response to the tag term not violating the associated policy.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising discarding the tag term in response to the tag term violating the associated policy.

19. The method of claim 17, further comprising receiving a second policy associated with the at least one piece of content.

20. The method of claim 19, further comprising comparing any currently applied tag terms to the at least one piece of content with the second policy.

21. The method of claim 20, discarding any currently applied tag terms that violate the second policy.
