Abstract

A method for displaying temporal data on a portable device is presented. The method includes converting the temporal data to clock coordinates to generate a clock data set. In addition, the method includes presenting a clock plot representative of the clock data set on a dial of a clock. Systems and computer-readable medium that afford functionality of the type defined by this method are also contemplated in conjunction with the present technique.

Claims

1. A method for displaying temporal data on a portable device, the method comprising:

converting the temporal data to clock coordinates to generate a clock data set; and

presenting a clock plot representative of the clock data set on a dial of a clock.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising remotely accessing the temporal data stored in a first storage over a network.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the temporal data comprises low-density data, high-density data, or a combination thereof.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein converting the temporal data to clock coordinates comprises:

correlating a first coordinate of the temporal data to a radial component of the clock data set; and

correlating a second coordinate of the temporal data to an angular component of the clock data set.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the first coordinate comprises a Y-coordinate of the temporal data and the second coordinate comprises an X-coordinate of the temporal data.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising generating a clock plot by plotting the clock data set on the dial of the clock.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising displaying the clock plot on a display of the portable device.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising selecting one or more desired patients.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

selecting one or more patient parameters to be displayed on the display of the portable device; and

displaying clock plots representative of temporal data corresponding to the selected parameters.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the patient parameters comprise a temperature, a heart rate, a blood pressure, a blood oxygen level, or a combination thereof.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

selecting a date; and

displaying a clock plot representative of temporal data corresponding to the selected date.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

selecting a predetermined time period; and

displaying a clock plot representative of temporal data corresponding to the selected time period.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the predetermined time period comprises a twelve hour time period.

14. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying complex data on the dial of the clock.

15. A computer readable medium comprising one or more tangible media, wherein the one or more tangible media comprise:

code adapted to convert temporal data to clock coordinates to generate a clock data set; and

code adapted to present a clock plot representative of the clock data set on a dial of a clock.

16. A data processing platform, comprising:

a clock plot generating module, wherein the clock plot generating module is configured to;

convert temporal data to clock coordinates to generate a clock data set; and

present a clock plot representative of the clock data set on a dial of a clock.

17. The data processing platform of claim 16, further configured to remotely access the temporal data stored in a first storage over a network using the portable device.

18. The data processing platform of claim 16, further configured to display the clock plot on a display of a portable device.

19. The data processing platform of claim 18, further configured to aid in selecting one or more desired patients.

20. The data processing platform of claim 16, further configured to:

aid in selecting one or more patient parameters, a date, a predetermined time period, or a combination thereof; and

displaying a clock plot representative of temporal data corresponding to the selected patient parameters, the selected date, the selected predetermined time period, or a combination thereof.

21. The data processing platform of claim 16, further configured to aid in displaying complex data on the dial of the clock.

22. A system, comprising:

a data storage system configured to store temporal data; and

a portable device configured to display the temporal data on a display, the portable device, comprising;

a data processing platform configured to;

convert the temporal data to clock coordinates to generate a clock data set; and

present a clock plot representative of the clock data set on a dial of a clock.

23. The system of claim 22, further comprising one or more devices configured to provide the temporal data.

24. A method for displaying complex temporal data on a portable device, the method comprising:

obtaining a snapshot signal of the complex data, wherein the snapshot signal of the complex data comprises a signal representative of the complex data over a predetermined time period, and wherein the predetermined time period comprises a plurality of sub-intervals;

obtaining amplitudes values of the snapshot signal at each of the plurality of sub-intervals;

correlating each amplitude value to a predetermined color, a predetermined symbol, or both; and

generating a plot by plotting the predetermined color, the predetermined symbol, or both, on a corresponding radial line of a dial of a clock.

25. The method of claim 24, further comprising displaying the generated plot on a display of the portable device.
