Abstract

A method of managing a domain, a method of extending a domain, and a method of selecting a reference point controller are provided. The method of operating the domain includes: receiving a request for authenticating a reference point controller from a reference point controller candidate; invalidating a membership of the stored reference point controller; generating a unique reference point controller membership for verifying that the reference point controller candidate is a new reference point controller; and transmitting the generated reference point controller membership to the reference point controller candidate. Accordingly, even when an error occurs in the reference point controller, the function of the reference point controller can be rapidly replaced by using the reference point controller candidate.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method comprising:

accessing, from an entity associated with a domain, data describing a capability of the entity; and

designating the entity as a master entity based on analyzing the accessed data, the master entity comprising a controller responsible for determining a proximity of other entities associated with the domain.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising comparing, using the accessed data, the capability of the entity with a capability of the other entities associated with the domain.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving data describing a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the entity is designated as the master entity based on the capability of the entity being higher than a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a request to run a proximity test for a requesting entity; and

checking, using the proximity test, whether a state of the requesting entity comprises a local state or remote state.

6. A device comprising a processor configured to:

access, from an entity associated with a domain, data describing a capability of the entity; and

designate the entity as a master entity based on analyzing the accessed data, the master entity comprising a controller responsible for determining a proximity of other entities associated with the domain.

7. The device of claim 6, wherein the processor is further configured to compare, using the accessed data, the capability of the entity with a capability of the other entities associated with the domain.

8. The device of claim 6, further comprising an interface configured to receive data describing a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

9. The device of claim 6, wherein the entity is designated as the master entity based on the capability of the entity being higher than a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

10. The device of claim 6, further comprising an interface configured to receive a request to run a proximity test for a requesting entity;

wherein the processor is further configured to check, using the proximity test, whether a state of the requesting entity comprises a local state or remote state.

11. A system comprising:

one or more computers;

a computer-readable medium coupled to the one or more computers having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more computers, causes the one or more computers to perform operations comprising;

accessing, from an entity associated with a domain, data describing a capability of the entity, and

designating the entity as a master entity based on analyzing the accessed data, the master entity comprising a controller responsible for determining a proximity of other entities associated with the domain.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise comparing, using the accessed data, the capability of the entity with a capability of the other entities associated with the domain.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise receiving data describing a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the entity is designated as the master entity based on the capability of the entity being higher than a capability of each of the other entities associated with the domain.

15. The system of claim 11, wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving a request to run a proximity test for a requesting entity; and

checking, using the proximity test, whether a state of the requesting entity comprises a local state or remote state.
