Abstract

A method and apparatus for processing Open state is provided, the method comprising receiving a Control Channel and a Forward Traffic Channel, requesting a MultipleInputMultipleOutput(MIMO) mode on the Forward Traffic Channel by sending a MIMORequest message, monitoring overhead messages and determining if the access terminal receives a ConnectionClose messages.

Claims

1. A method of processing Open state by an access terminal in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

receiving a Control Channel and a Forward Traffic Channel;

requesting a MultipleInputMultipleOutput (MIMO) mode on the Forward Traffic Channel by sending a MIMORequest message;

monitoring overhead messages; and

determining if the access terminal receives a ConnectionClose messages.

2. The method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that:

generating a RegistrationRadiusUpdated indication accompanied by the RegistrationRadiusFlag contained in the message;

sending a ConnectionClose message with CloseReason set to “

CloseReply”

;

returning a ConnectionClosed indication; and

transitioning to an Inactive State.

3. A computer readable medium including instruction stored thereon, characterized in that:

a first set of instructions for receiving the Control Channel and the Forward Traffic Channel;

a second set of instructions for requesting a MIMO mode on the Forward Traffic Channel by sending a MIMORequest message;

a third set of instructions for monitoring the overhead messages; and

a fourth set of instructions for determining if the access terminal receives a ConnectionClose messages.

4. An apparatus operable in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

means for receiving the Control Channel and the Forward Traffic Channel;

means for requesting a MIMO mode on the Forward Traffic Channel by sending a MIMORequest message;

means for monitoring the overhead messages; and

means for determining if an access terminal receives a ConnectionClose messages.

5. The method as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that:

means for generating a RegistrationRadiusUpdated indication accompanied by the RegistrationRadiusFlag contained in the message;

means for sending a ConnectionClose message with CloseReason set to “

CloseReply”

;

means for returning a ConnectionClosed indication; and

means for transitioning to an Inactive State.

6. A method of processing Open state by an access network in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

receiving a Reverse Traffic Channel;

transmitting on a Forward Traffic Channel;

determining if an access network receives a ConnectionClose message;

returning a ConnectionClosed indication;

transitioning to an Inactive state;

determining if the access network is closing the connection;

transmitting a ConnectionClose message; and

transitioning to a Close state.

7. A computer readable medium including instruction stored thereon, characterized in that:

a first set of instructions for receiving a Reverse Traffic Channel;

a second of instructions for transmitting on a Forward Traffic Channel;

a third set of instructions for determining if an access network receives a ConnectionClose message;

a fourth set of instructions for returning a ConnectionClosed indication;

a fifth set of instructions for transitioning to an Inactive state;

a sixth set of instructions for determining if the access network is closing the connection;

a seventh set of instructions for transmitting a ConnectionClose message; and

an eighth set of instructions for transitioning to a Close state.

8. An apparatus operable in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

means for receiving a Reverse Traffic Channel;

means for transmitting on a Forward Traffic Channel;

means for determining if an access network receives a ConnectionClose message;

means for returning a ConnectionClosed indication;

means for transitioning to an Inactive state;

means for determining if the access network is closing the connection;

means for transmitting a ConnectionClose message; and

means for transitioning to a Close state.
