Abstract

Systems and methods for optimization of real time production operations. In one embodiment, a moving time horizon based parametric model provides fast predictions for production optimization in a short-term framework. In another embodiment, multiple technologies are selected in connection with asset performance workflows that are uniquely implemented in a multi-phase approach.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for optimization of real time production operations, comprising:

selecting an input and an output for a short-term parametric model using real time field measurements from an injection source and from a production source;

processing the field measurements by removing at least one of an outlier, a non-zero means and a non-stationery trend;

selecting an identification parameter for the short-term parametric model; and

identifying the short-term parametric model using the field measurements and the identification parameter.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

optimizing an objective function at each time step using the short-term parametric model; and

producing a plurality of targets.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

optimizing a field objective based on the targets.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the short-term parametric model is used in a model predictive control algorithm to optimize the field objective.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

updating the short-term parametric model using a moving time horizon.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the field measurements include production data.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the injection source is an injection well and the production source is a production well.

8. The method of claim 2, wherein the objective function is based on a net present value.

9. The method of claim 2, wherein the plurality of targets comprise multi-phase rates as set points.

10. The method of claim 3, wherein a plurality of multi-phase rates are produced as a result of optimizing the field objective.

11. A program carrier device having computer executable instructions for optimization of real time production operations, the instructions being executable to implement:

selecting an input and an output for a short-term parametric model using real time field measurements from an injection source and from a production source;

processing the field measurements by removing at least one of an outlier, a non-zero means and a non-stationery trend;

selecting an identification parameter for the short-term parametric model; and

identifying the short-term parametric model using the field measurements and the identification parameter.

12. The program carrier device of claim 11, further comprising:

optimizing an objective function at each time step using the short-term parametric model; and

producing a plurality of targets.

13. The program carrier device of claim 12, further comprising:

optimizing a field objective based on the targets.

14. The program carrier device of claim 13, wherein the short-term parametric model is used in a model predictive control algorithm to optimize the field objective.

15. The program carrier device of claim 11, further comprising:

updating the short-term parametric model using a moving time horizon.

16. The program carrier device of claim 11, wherein the field measurements include production data.

17. The program carrier device of claim 11, wherein the injection source is an injection well and the production source is a production well.

18. The program carrier device of claim 12, wherein the objective function is based on a net present value.

19. The program carrier device of claim 12, wherein the plurality of targets comprise multi-phase rates as set points.

20. The program carrier device of claim 13, wherein a plurality of multi-phase rates are produced as a result of optimizing the field objective.

21. A computer implemented method for implementing asset performance workflows during real time reservoir operations, comprising:

selecting multiple technologies from visualization technology, modeling technology and automation technology;

implementing a first group of the selected technologies in a first asset performance workflow, the first group comprising primarily at least one of the visualization technology and the modeling technology; and

implementing a second group of the selected technologies in a second asset performance workflow after implementing the first group of the selected technologies, the second group comprising primarily the automation technology.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein the visualization technology comprises a daily production report component, a production loss control component, and a plant efficiency component.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the modeling technology comprises the plant efficiency component, an equipment performance monitoring component, a virtual multi-phase meters component, an enhanced production test component, a production test validation component, a real-time reservoir simulation component and an integrated production optimization component.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the automation technology comprises the equipment performance monitoring component, the enhanced production test component, a knowledge capture component, an alarm rationalization component, a workflow management component, an operator workflow automation component and an advanced process control component.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein the first group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component, the enhanced production test component, the real time reservoir simulation component, the multi-scenario modeling component, the production test validation component, and the integrated production optimization component.

26. The method of claim 24, wherein the second group comprises the plant efficiency component, the equipment performance monitoring component, the knowledge capture component, the alarm rationalization component, the workflow management component, the operator workflow automation component and the advanced process control component.

27. The method of claim 24, further comprising implementing a third group of the selected technologies in a third asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the third group comprising only the visualization technology and the modeling technology.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein the third group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component and the asset performance metrics component.

29. The method of claim 24, further comprising implementing a fourth group of the selected technologies in a fourth asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the fourth group comprising only the visualization technology.

30. The method of claim 29, wherein the fourth group comprises the daily production report component, the production loss control component and the asset performance metrics component.

31. The method of claim 24, wherein the first group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component and the asset performance metrics component.

32. The method of claim 24, wherein the first group comprises the daily production report component, the production loss control component and the asset performance metrics component.

33. The method of claim 24, wherein the first group comprises the plant efficiency component and the asset performance metrics component.

34. The method of claim 24, further comprising implementing a fifth group of the selected technologies in a fifth asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the fifth group comprising only the visualization technology and the modeling technology.

35. The method of claim 34, wherein the fifth group comprises the plant efficiency component and the asset performance metrics component.

36. A program carrier device having computer executable instructions for implementing asset performance workflows during real time reservoir operations, the instructions being executable to implement:

selecting multiple technologies from visualization technology, modeling technology and automation technology;

implementing a first group of the selected technologies in a first asset performance workflow, the first group comprising primarily at least one of the visualization technology and the modeling technology; and

implementing a second group of the selected technologies in a second asset performance workflow after implementing the first group of the selected technologies, the second group comprising primarily the automation technology.

37. The program carrier device of claim 36, wherein the visualization technology comprises a daily production report component, a production loss control component, and a plant efficiency component.

38. The program carrier device of claim 37, wherein the modeling technology comprises the plant efficiency component, an equipment performance monitoring component, a virtual multi-phase meters component, an enhanced production test component, a production test validation component, a real-time reservoir simulation component and an integrated production optimization component.

39. The program carrier device of claim 38, wherein the automation technology comprises the equipment performance monitoring component, the enhanced production test component, a knowledge capture component, an alarm rationalization component, a workflow management component, an operator workflow automation component and an advanced process control component.

40. The program carrier device of claim 39, wherein the first group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component, the enhanced production test component, the real time reservoir simulation component, the multi-scenario modeling component, the production test validation component, and the integrated production optimization component.

41. The program carrier device of claim 39, wherein the second group comprises the plant efficiency component, the equipment performance monitoring component, the knowledge capture component, the alarm rationalization component, the workflow management component, the operator workflow automation component and the advanced process control component.

42. The program carrier device of claim 39, further comprising implementing a third group of the selected technologies in a third asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the third group comprising only the visualization technology and the modeling technology.

43. The program carrier device of claim 42, wherein the third group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component and the asset performance metrics component.

44. The program carrier device of claim 39, further comprising implementing a fourth group of the selected technologies in a fourth asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the fourth group comprising only the visualization technology.

45. The program carrier device of claim 44, wherein the fourth group comprises the daily production report component, the production loss control component and the asset performance metrics component.

46. The program carrier device of claim 39, wherein the first group comprises the virtual multi-phase meters component and the asset performance metrics component.

47. The program carrier device of claim 39, wherein the first group comprises the daily production report component, the production loss control component and the asset performance metrics component.

48. The program carrier device of claim 39, wherein the first group comprises the plant efficiency component and the asset performance metrics component.

49. The program carrier device of claim 39, further comprising implementing a fifth group of the selected technologies in a fifth asset performance workflow before implementing the second group of the selected technologies, the fifth group comprising only the visualization technology and the modeling technology.

50. The program carrier device of claim 49, wherein the fifth group comprises the plant efficiency component and the asset performance metrics component.
