Abstract

A system for controlling a plurality of surveillance, monitoring and security devices within a prescribed area, including a mobile transmitter device configured to transmit a wireless signal to a remote device. Where the remote device controls the area-specific systems in response to the wireless signal. The devices able to be controlled depend on the location of the mobile transmitter device and information carried by the signal. Also, a method for controlling devices within prescribed areas of a building, including monitoring a location of a mobile transmitter device within the building, receiving a wireless signal from the mobile transmitter device, and controlling specific functions of the systems based on a location of the mobile transmitter device and the information carried by the transmitted signal.

Claims

1. A system for controlling a plurality of surveillance, monitoring and security devices comprising:

at least one mobile transmitter device configured to transmit a wireless signal to a remote receiving device,

wherein said remote receiving device relays said signal to said system and in response said system activates at least one surveillance, monitoring or security device in response to said wireless signal; and

wherein said wireless signal comprises a threat level indicator configured to change a threat level status of said system.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein said mobile transmitter device comprises a key fob configured to connect to a key chain;

wherein said mobile transmitter has a unique ID configured to enable said system to disable a lost or stolen transmitter.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein areas containing surveillance, monitoring, and/or security devices are grouped and assigned privacy threshold values.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein said threat level indicator is compared against said privacy threshold value assigned to a given area to selectively activate said surveillance, monitoring, and/or security devices.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein said devices associated with said privacy sensitive area are selectively activated upon a determination that said threat level indicator exceeds said privacy threshold value.

6. The system of claim 4, wherein said privacy threshold value is assigned upon a determination of a degree of privacy desired in said privacy sensitive area.

7. The system of claim 3, further comprising an operations center at said remote device comprising a default threat level, wherein said devices are deactivated at said default threat level.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein said plurality of surveillance, monitoring and security devices comprise video equipment, audio equipment, motion detectors, heat, light, and foreign substance detectors, cameras, and locks.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein said specified systems comprise lighting control in an area in which said mobile transmitter device is located.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein said specified systems comprise a temperature control system in an area in which said mobile transmitter device is located.

11. A system for controlling area-specific systems within a building, comprising:

a transmitter configured to transmit a wireless signal to a remote device, said wireless signal including both information and a location indicator;

a first switch configured to change a threat level at said remote device; and

a second switch configured to activate non-emergency systems,

wherein said remote device controls said area-specific systems in response to said wireless signal depending on a location of said transmitter and information carried by said wireless signal.

12. A method for controlling systems within prescribed areas of a building, comprising:

wirelessly monitoring a location of a mobile transmitter device within the building;

receiving a wireless signal from said mobile transmitter device; and

controlling specific functions of said systems based on a location of said mobile transmitter device and information carried by said wireless signal.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein controlling said specific functions of said systems comprises activating said systems when said mobile transmitter device enters a predetermined distance from said systems.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein controlling said specific functions of said systems further comprises deactivating said systems when said mobile transmitter device leaves said predetermined distance from said systems.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein said mobile transmitter device comprises at least one button configured to selectively control at least one system within a predetermined distance of said mobile transmitter device.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein said at least one button transmits a threat level signal.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising activating a surveillance system upon receiving said threat level signal, wherein said information carried by said wireless signal comprises a threat level condition exceeding a privacy threshold assigned to said surveillance system.
