18. A method of monitoring the onset of a renal disorder in a human being, said method comprising the steps of
i) determining the concentration of human neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) in a sample of bodily fluid from the human being, ii) repeating step i) on a further sample of bodily fluid from the same human being taken after a given time period, and iii) assessing whether or not the human being has developed a renal disorder, or is about to develop a renal disorder, by comparison of the concentrations obtained in step i) and ii), wherein a significantly higher concentration of NGAL in the second sample is indicative of the human being having developed a renal disorder, or being about to develop a renal disorder.
