Abstract

A method of processing data at a specific protocol layer in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The present invention includes the steps of receiving a first data block including sequence information from a lower layer, checking a status of a second data block contained in the first data block, the second data block being an upper layer data block having time information, and if the status of the second data block fails to correspond to a prescribed condition, discarding the first data block.

Claims

1. A method of processing data at a specific protocol layer in a wireless communication system, comprising the steps of:

receiving a first data block including sequence information from a lower layer;

checking a status of a second data block contained in the first data block, the second data block being an upper layer data block having time information; and

if the status of the second data block fails to correspond to a prescribed condition, discarding the first data block.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the specific protocol layer is an RLC (radio link control) layer.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the RLC layer operates in unacknowledged mode (UM) and is configured to deliver a sequence number included in the first data block to an upper layer.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the first data block is an RLC PDU (protocol data unit) and the second data block is an RLC SDU (service data unit).

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the lower layer is a MAC (medium access control) layer and the upper layer is a PDCP (packet data convergence protocol) layer.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the status of the second data block is checked using a specific indicator included in a header of the first data block.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the specific indicator comprises at least one of an extension bit (E-bit) and a length indicator (LI).

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the length indicator is a first length indicator existing within the first data block.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein whether the status of the second data block corresponds to a prescribed condition is determined by checking whether the second data block singly exists within the first data block.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the singly existing second data block is not segmented, concatenated or padded by a peer specific protocol layer of a transmitting side.

11. A method of processing data at a specific protocol layer in a wireless communication system, comprising the steps of:

receiving a first data block including sequence information from a lower layer;

checking a status of a second data block contained in the first data block, the second data block being an upper layer data block having time information; and

if at least two second data blocks exist, selecting one of the at least two second data blocks from the first data block and delivering the selected second data block to an upper layer.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the specific protocol layer is an RLC (radio link control) layer.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the RLC layer operates in unacknowledged mode (UM) and is configured to deliver a sequence number included in the first data block to an upper layer.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the first data block is an RLC PDU (protocol data unit) and the second data block is an RLC SDU (service data unit).

15. The method of claim 11, wherein the lower layer is a MAC (medium access control) layer and the upper layer is a PDCP (packet data convergence protocol) layer.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein the status of the second data block is checked using a specific indicator included in a header of the first data block.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the specific indicator comprises at least one of an extension bit (E-bit) and a length indicator (LI).

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the length indicator comprises a first length indicator existing within the first data block.

19. The method of claim 11, wherein the time information exists in a header of the second data block and the selected second data block includes a header.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the selected second data block is a data block existing first within the first data block.

21. The method of claim 11, further comprising the step of discarding the rest of the at least two second data blocks except the selected second data block.
