Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for using interlaced video signal of a base layer in interlayer texture prediction. The present method applies a de-blocking filter to the image obtained by interleaving an interlaced video signal of a base layer, separates the de-blocked image into even-field and odd-field components, interpolates the even-field and the odd-field components respectively in vertical and/or horizontal direction, and constructs a combined video data by interleaving the interpolated even-field and odd-field components.

Claims

1. A method for encoding or decoding a video signal, the method comprising:

a) separating a video signal into even and odd field components;

b) applying a de-blocking filter to the separated field components;

c) interpolating each of the deblocking-filtered even and odd field components in a vertical and/or horizontal direction; and

d) obtaining a reference image by using the interpolated even and odd field components.

2. The method according to claim 1, further comprising:

applying interlayer texture prediction based on the reference image.

3. The method according to claim 1, wherein the method includes:

constructing an image, including image sample data and residual data that is a difference value between image sample data, from the video signal; and

obtaining the reference image by using the constructed image.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the de-blocking filter is applied to an area that includes image sample data reconstructed from intra mode.

5. The method according to claim 1, wherein the video signal of the base layer includes a picture including a pair of vertically adjacent macroblocks, one of the pair being an even field component macroblock and the other being an odd field component macroblock.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the picture included in the video signal of the base layer includes a pair of macroblocks in each of which even and odd field components have been interleaved.

7. The method according to claim 1, wherein even and odd field components in the video signal of the base layer are included in different pictures.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein, the video signal is obtained on a picture by picture basis, each picture having both even and odd field components.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein the method includes separating the video signal into an even field component picture and an odd field component picture.

10. The method according to claim 1, wherein an upper layer of the base layer, to which interlayer prediction is to be applied, is a progressive video signal.

11. The method according to claim 1, wherein an upper layer of the base layer, to which interlayer prediction is to be applied, is an interlaced video signal.

12. The method according to claim 11, wherein the interlaced video signal of the upper layer is image data that has been or that is to be coded into a pair of frame macroblocks.
