Abstract

Methods and systems for passing information using a mobile client are disclosed. For example, a method for a mobile client may include initiating a transaction between the mobile client and a transaction host using a near field communication (NFC) link, and receiving on the mobile client, information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.

Claims

1. A method for passing information using a mobile client, comprising:

initiating a transaction between the mobile client and a transaction host using a near field communication (NFC) link; and

receiving on the mobile client, information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the transaction host is a Point-of-Sale terminal.

3. The method according to claim 1, further comprising forwarding transaction information from a server via the NFC link.

4. The method according to claim 1, further comprising receiving information relating to the transaction including at least one of a merchant identity, credit card provider, type of item, name of item, transaction value, location of transaction, date of transaction, time or transaction, and telephone number.

5. The method according to claim 1, further comprising receiving at least one of advertising information and coupons via the NFC link.

6. The method according to claim 1, further comprising, providing via the NFC link a promotion to the mobile client based on an attribute of the transaction.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the promotion is based on the client information on the mobile client.

8. The method according to claim 1, wherein the received transaction information includes a receipt.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein the receipt is received in response to a swipe of the mobile client in proximity to the transaction host.

10. A mobile client, comprising:

a memory;

near field communication (NFC) circuitry capable of establishing a two-way NFC link; and

a processor coupled to the memory and NFC circuitry, and operable to;

perform a transaction with a transaction host using the NFC link; and

receive from the transaction host information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.

11. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the transaction host is a Point-of-Sale terminal.

12. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to receive transaction information from a server via the NFC link.

13. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to receive via the NFC link information relating to the transaction including at least one of a merchant identity, credit card provider, type of item, name of item, transaction value, location of transaction, date of transaction, time or transaction, and telephone number.

14. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to receive at least one of advertising information and coupons via the NFC link.

15. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to receive a promotion based on an attribute of the transaction via the NFC link.

16. The mobile client according to claim 15, wherein the promotion is based on the client information on the mobile client.

17. The mobile client according to claim 10, wherein the received transaction information includes a receipt.

18. The mobile client according to claim 12, wherein the receipt is received in response to a swipe of the mobile client in proximity to the transaction host.

19. A mobile client, comprising:

means for establishing a two-way near field communication (NFC) link; and

means for performing a transaction with a transaction host using the NFC link, wherein the means for performing can also receive from the transaction host information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.

20. The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the transaction host is a Point-of-Sale terminal.

The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the processing means is further configured to receive via the NFC link information relating to the transaction including at least one of a merchant identity, credit card provider, type of item, name of item, transaction value, location of transaction, date of transaction, time or transaction, and telephone number.

22. The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the processing means is further configured to receive at least one of advertising information and coupons via the NFC link.

23. The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the processing circuitry is further configured to receive transaction information from a server via the NFC link.

24. The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the processing means is further configured to receive a promotion based on an attribute of the transaction via the NFC link.

25. The mobile client according to claim 24, wherein the promotion is based on the client information on the mobile client.

26. The mobile client according to claim 19, wherein the received transaction information includes a receipt.

27. The mobile client according to claim 26, wherein the receipt is received in response to a swipe of the mobile client in proximity to the transaction host.

28. A transaction host for interacting with mobile clients, comprising:

a memory;

near field communication (NFC) circuitry capable of establishing a two-way NFC link; and

a processor coupled to the memory and NFC circuitry, and operable to;

perform a transaction with a mobile client using the NFC link; and

transmit to the mobile client information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.

29. A computer program product, comprising:

a computer-readable medium comprising;

instructions for initiating a transaction between the mobile client and a transaction host using a near field communication (NFC) link; and

instructions for receiving on the mobile client, information relating to the transaction using the NFC link.
