Abstract

In various embodiments, a method for managing edge processors includes providing an interface that allows a user to define a network operation associated with a edge processor. A network operation is generated based on input received via the interface. An action defined by the network operation is then performed at one or more edge processors.

Claims

1. A method for managing edge processors, the method comprising:

providing an interface that allows a user to define a network operation associated with a edge processor;

generating a network operation based on input received via the interface; and

performing an action defined by the network operation.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining one or more edge processors from the network operations; and

transmitting the network operation to the one or more edge processors.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

packaging the network operation for distribution to one or more edge processors.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving the network operation at a management node;

instructing at least one edge processor to perform the action defined by the network operation; and

wherein performing the action comprises performing the action at the at least one edge processor.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving a policy; and

performing the action using the policy.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein the policy comprises access control information;

and

wherein performing the action using the policy comprises allowing performance of an operation at an edge processor based on the access control information.

7. A system for managing edge processors, the system comprising:

an interface configured to allow a user to define a network operation associated with an edge processor;

a processor; and

a memory coupled to the processor, the memory configured to store a set of instructions which when executed by the processor cause the processor to;

generate a network operation based on input received via the interface; and

perform an action defined by the network operation.

8. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor is caused to:

determine one or more edge processors from the network operations; and

transmit the network operation to the one or more edge processors.

9. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor is caused to:

package the network operation for distribution to one or more edge processors.

10. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor is caused to:

receive the network operation at a management node;

instruct at least one edge processor to perform the action defined by the network operation; and

perform the action at the at least one edge processor.

11. The system of claim 7 wherein the processor is caused to:

receive a policy; and

perform the action using the policy.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the policy comprises access control information;

and

wherein the processor is caused to allow performance of an operation at an edge processor based on the access control information.

13. A computer readable medium storing a set of code modules which when executed by a processor of computer system cause the processor to manage a plurality of edge processors, the computer readable medium comprising:

code for providing an interface that allows a user to define a network operation associated with a edge processor;

code for generating a network operation based on input received via the interface; and

code for performing an action defined by the network operation.

14. The computer readable medium of claim 13 further comprising:

code for determining one or more edge processors from the network operations; and

code for transmitting the network operation to the one or more edge processors.

15. The computer readable medium of claim 13 further comprising:

code for packaging the network operation for distribution to one or more edge processors.

16. The computer readable medium of claim 13 further comprising:

code for receiving the network operation at a management node;

code for instructing at least one edge processor to perform the action defined by the network operation; and

wherein the code for performing the action comprises code for performing the action at the at least one edge processor.

17. The computer readable medium of claim 13 further comprising:

code for receiving a policy; and

code for performing the action using the policy.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 17 wherein the policy comprises access control information;

and

wherein the code for performing the action using the policy comprises code for allowing performance of an operation at an edge processor based on the access control information.
