1. A method of permitting a telephone user to customize the identification of a call setup process to calling parties, comprising the steps of:
- permitting the telephone user to create a karaoke style recording by causing an underlying musical track to be mixed with the voice of the user;
causing the karaoke style recording to be stored for later use as a ringback tone;
causing the karaoke style recording to be used as a ringback tone for a telephone number associated with the user to identify the call setup process to calling parties.
