Abstract

An information carrier system for a food article slicing machine. The system is for reading data from removable parts of the slicing machine. The system has a data carrier located on one or more removable parts for storing data and a head for reading data from the data carrier or for writing data to the data carrier guides. A shear support is one of the removable parts.

Claims

1. A food article slicing machine, comprising:

a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;

a food article feed apparatus supporting one or more food articles for movement along food article paths intersecting the cutting path; and

an information carrier system for reading data from removable parts of said slicing machine.

2. The slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said information carrier system comprises:

a data carrier for storing data, said data carrier located on said removable parts; and

a head for reading data from said data carrier or for writing data to said data carrier.

3. The food article slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said information carrier system comprises a controller for communicating with a slicing machine control.

4. The food article slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said information carrier system comprises a data carrier for storing data;

said data carrier located on said removable parts; and

said data carrier not independently powered.

5. The food article slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said information carrier system comprises:

a data carrier located on said removable parts and for storing data; and

,

a head for reading data from said data carrier or writing data to said data carrier, said head communicates with said data carrier wirelessly.

6. The slicing machine of claim 5, wherein said head communicates with said data carrier by radio frequency identification.

7. The slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said removable parts comprise said knife blade.

8. The slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said removable parts comprise a shear support adjacent to said cutting plane for guiding said food article into said slicing plane.

9. The slicing machine of claim 1, wherein said removable parts comprise a gripper for releasably holding a food article end.

10. The machine of claim 1, wherein said information carrier system signal connected to a machine control of the slicing machine.

11. A food article slicing machine, comprising:

a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;

a food article feed apparatus supporting at least one food article for movement along a food article path intersecting the cutting path; and

a means for storing data in or retrieving data from removable parts of said slicing machine.

12. A food article slicing machine, comprising:

a slicing station comprising a knife blade and a knife blade drive driving the blade along a cutting path in a cutting plane;

a food article feed apparatus supporting one or more food articles for movement along food article paths intersecting the cutting path; and

,

said food article feed apparatus having a shear frame for receiving a shear support.

13. The food article slicing machine of claim 12, wherein said shear frame is adjacent to said cutting plane and for receiving a shear support that guides said food articles along said food article paths into said cutting plane.

14. The food article slicing machine of claim 12, wherein said shear frame comprises a U-shaped component for receiving said a support.

15. The food article slicing machine of claim 14, wherein said U-shaped component has two upward extending arms;

each said arm has a plurality of holes for selectively fastening said shear support to said U-shaped component.

16. The food article slicing machine of claim 14, comprising a top cross bar for securing a shear support within said U-shaped component.
