1. A server comprising:
- a storage unit for storing a history of activities performed by characters in a virtual world according to operations performed on a plurality of clients;
a search unit for searching the storage unit to retrieve a history of activities in which a first character has changed a state of a second character, the first character having performed an activity according to an operation performed by a first client, the second character having performed an activity according to an operation performed on a second client;
a calculation unit for calculating, on the basis of the retrieved history, a score indicating the extent to which the first character has changed the state of the second character; and
a transmission control unit for controlling, on the basis of the calculated score, the frequency with which a state of the first character is transmitted to the second client, the state of the first character having been changed according to an operation performed by a user on the first client.

storing a history of activities in a storage unit according to control performed by a computer, which activities were performed by characters in a virtual world according to operations performed on client computers; searching, according to control performed by the computer, the stored activities to retrieve a history of activities in which a first character has changed a state of a second character, the first character having performed an activity according to an operation performed on a first client, the second character having performed an activity according to an operation performed on a second client; calculating, on the basis of the retrieved history, a score indicating the extent to which the first character has changed the state of the second character; and controlling the frequency with which a state of the first character is transmitted to the second client, on the basis of the calculated score, the state of the first character having been changed according to an operation performed by a user on the first client.
