Abstract

A processing method of interfacing a 3D image and a camera image is provided. In the processing method, a specific image pattern defined by a user is recognized, the recognized pattern is traced within an image, and a camera image and a 3D image are interfaced based on the tracing result. A 3D object is animated and rendered using a 3D graphic engine. The rendered image of the 3D object and the camera image are integrated and displayed.

21. A method of interfacing a graphic image stored in a device and an image received through a camera of the device, the method comprising:

acquiring the image including a preset specific pattern through the camera;

converting the acquired image into a virtual image and displaying the virtual image with the stored graphic image;

recognizing the specific pattern within the acquired image;

tracing a movement of the specific pattern;

determining a correspondence between an object of the stored graphic image and the virtual image by the traced movement of the specific pattern;

performing an animation process to render a corresponding object according to the determined correspondence; and

integrating and displaying the rendered object with at least one of the stored graphic image and the virtual image of the user.

22. The method of according to claim 21, wherein the virtual image is movable according to a movement of the acquired image.

23. The method according to claim 21, wherein the device comprises one of a mobile phone, a PDA (personal digital assistant), a PDA phone, a smart phone, a notebook computer, and a PMP (portable multimedia player).

24. The method according to claim 21, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced in real time.

25. The method of according to claim 21, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced by comparing frames in the acquired image.

26. The method according to claim 21, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced such that not all moving portions of the acquired image are traced.

27. A method of controlling an apparatus by interfacing a specific pattern of an acquired image and an object of a stored graphic image, the method comprising:

acquiring the image including the specific pattern through a camera of the apparatus;

converting the acquired image into a virtual image and displaying the virtual image with the stored graphic image;

recognizing the specific pattern within the acquired image;

tracing a movement of the specific pattern;

displaying a plurality of objects on the stored graphic image, the plurality of objects being associated with a plurality of contents;

determining whether one of the plurality of objects on the stored graphic image and the specific pattern of the acquired image has interacted by comparing position information of the one of the plurality of objects and the specific pattern of the acquired image;

performing an animation process to render a corresponding object according to the interaction upon determining that the one of the plurality of objects on the stored graphic image and the specific pattern of the acquired image has interacted; and

controlling the apparatus to display one of the plurality of contents in response to the interaction being determined.

28. The method of according to claim 27, wherein the virtual image is movable according to a movement of the acquired image.

29. The method according to claim 27, wherein the apparatus comprises one of a mobile phone, a PDA (personal digital assistant), a PDA phone, a smart phone, a notebook computer, and a PMP (portable multimedia player).

30. The method according to claim 27, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced in real time.

31. The method of according to claim 27, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced by comparing frames in the acquired image.

32. The method according to claim 27, wherein the movement of the specific pattern is traced such that not all moving portions of the acquired image are traced.
