1. A data entry system using a number of different input signals provided by interacting with input means such as keys wherein:
- a number of characters, including substantially all letters of alphabet of one language, are distributively assigned to four of said input signals such that at least two of said letters are ambiguously assigned to one of said four input signals,said data entry system includes a database of words and uses a word predictive system such that in order to enter a word of said database the user provides input information in the form of the input signals corresponding to the characters, generally the letters, of said word through said four input signals, and wherein the system provides a word of the dictionary that corresponds to said input information, andsaid letters of alphabet are distributively assigned to said four input signals such as to increase the accuracy of recognizing the user'"'"'s desired word by the system, based on the input information alone.

Abstract
A data entry system includes a plurality of keys each of which has two or more symbols associated with each key and a means for receiving a second specific input from a user. A third correction key is provided, where a user enters a desired input by pressing one or more of the plurality of keys corresponding to the symbols required for the desired input and further provides a second specific input also relating to at least a portion of the desired input, such that the system produces a response to the desired input by predicting the desired input based on the symbols pressed by the user and based on the second specific input. If the produced response is different than the desired input, the user may press the correction key to scroll through additional less frequent responses from the system also matching the symbols pressed and the second specific input.
