3. A method for validating the intactness of a security seal associated with a transponder comprising the steps of:

interrogating said security seal by using a transponder reader within a prescribed distance from said transponder; receiving a response from said transponder; interpreting said reception as a validation of intactness, and recording an ID number associated with said seal.
