Abstract

Some embodiments provide a method for displaying one or more versions of an image. The method provides a display area and provides a scaling tool that can select a first portion of a first version of an image to scale and can display a scaled second portion of a second version of the image in place of the selected first portion of the first version of the image. Some embodiments provide a method that can display a master image that has a first resolution and an associated preview image with a second resolution. The method displays the preview image at a third resolution that is less than the second resolution. The method receives a request to zoom the displayed preview image. The method displays the preview image at the second resolution. The method receives a request to display the master image and displays the master image at the first resolution.

Claims

1. A method of displaying one or more versions of an image, the method comprising:

providing a display area for displaying at least one image; and

providing a scaling tool for selecting a first portion of a first version of an image to scale and for displaying a scaled second portion of a second version of the image in place of the selected first portion of the first version of the image.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first version is a preview image and the second version is a master image.

3. The method of claim 2 further providing an editing tool for editing the scaled portion of the second version of the image.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the second version of the image is a preview of the first version of the image.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the scaling is for scaling up the selected portion of the first version of the image to more than one hundred percent of the size of the corresponding portion of the second version of the image.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the scaling is for scaling down the selected portion of the first version of the image to less than one hundred percent of the size of the corresponding portion of the second version of the image.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the scaling is for scaling the selected portion of the first version of the image to one hundred percent of the size of the corresponding portion of the second version of the image.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the selected portion of the first version of the image is less than one hundred percent of the first version of the image and the scaling tool is a loupe tool.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the selected portion of the first version of the image is one hundred percent of the first version of the image and the scaling tool is a zoom tool.

10. A method of displaying a master first image having (i) a first resolution and (ii) an associated preview second image with a second resolution, the method comprising:

displaying the preview image at a third resolution that is less than the second resolution;

receiving a request to zoom the displayed preview second image;

displaying the preview second image at the second resolution;

receiving a request to display the master first image; and

displaying the master first image at the first resolution.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the second resolution is equal to the first resolution.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the second resolution is less than the first resolution.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein receiving the request to display the master first image comprises receiving a request to disable a display of preview images.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein receiving the request to disable the display of preview images causes an automatic display of the master first image in place of the preview second image.

15. The method of claim 10, wherein receiving the request to display the master first image comprises receiving a request to zoom the preview second image displayed at the second resolution

16. The method of claim 10, wherein the images are displayed in an image display area, wherein displaying the preview second image at the third resolution scales the preview second image to fit in the display area.

17. A method of displaying a first master image having (i) a first resolution and (ii) an associated preview second image with a second resolution, the method comprising:

receiving a request to display images in a scale-to-fit mode;

displaying the preview second image at a scale-to-fit resolution that is less than the second resolution;

receiving a request to zoom the displayed preview second image; and

displaying the preview second image at the second resolution.

18. The method of claim 17 further comprising:

receiving a request to display the master first image; and

displaying the master first image at the first resolution without a user canceling the scale-to-fit request.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein receiving the request to display the master first image at the first resolution without the user cancelling the scale-to-fit request comprises receiving a request to disable a display of preview images.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein receiving the request to disable the display of preview images causes an automatic display of the master first image in place of the preview second image.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein the second resolution is equal to the first resolution.

22. The method of claim 17, wherein the second resolution is less than the first resolution.

23. A graphical user interface (GUI) of a computer program stored in a computer readable medium, the computer program for execution by at least one processor, the computer program for scaling at least a portion of an image, the GUI comprising:

a display area for displaying at least one image; and

a scaling tool to scale a portion of a displayed first image, the scaling tool for selecting a first portion of a first version of an image to scale and for displaying a scaled second portion of a second version of the image in place of the selected first portion of the first version of the image.

24. The GUI of claim 23, wherein the first version is a preview image and the second version is a master image

25. The GUI of claim 23 further comprising at least one editing tool for editing the scaled portion of the second version of the image.

26. A computer readable medium storing a computer program for displaying a master first image having (i) a first resolution and (ii) an associated preview second image with a second resolution, the computer program for execution by at least one processor, the computer program comprising sets of instructions for:

displaying the preview image at a third resolution that is less than the second resolution;

receiving a request to zoom the displayed preview second image;

displaying the preview second image at the second resolution;

receiving a request to display the master first image; and

displaying the master first image at the first resolution.

27. The computer readable medium of claim 26, wherein the second resolution is equal to the first resolution.

28. The computer readable medium of claim 26, wherein the second resolution is less than the first resolution.

29. The computer readable medium of claim 26, wherein the set of instructions for receiving the request to display the master first image comprises a set of instructions for receiving a request to disable a display of preview images.

30. The computer readable medium of claim 29, wherein receiving the request to disable the display of preview images causes an automatic display of the master first image in place of the preview second image.

31. The computer readable medium of claim 26, wherein the set of instructions for receiving the request to display the master first image comprises a set of instructions for receiving a request to zoom the preview second image displayed at the second resolution

32. The computer readable medium of claim 26, wherein the images are displayed in an image display area, wherein displaying the preview second image at the third resolution scales the preview second image to fit in the display area.

33. A computer readable medium storing a computer program for displaying a first master image having (i) a first resolution and (ii) an associated preview second image with a second resolution, the computer program for execution by at least one processor, the computer program comprising sets of instructions for:

receiving a request to display images in a scale-to-fit mode;

displaying the preview second image at a scale-to-fit resolution that is less than the second resolution;

receiving a request to zoom the displayed preview second image; and

displaying the preview second image at the second resolution.

34. The computer readable medium of claim 33, wherein the computer program further comprises sets of instructions for comprising:

receiving a request to display the master first image; and

displaying the master first image at the first resolution without a user canceling the scale-to-fit request.

35. The computer readable medium of claim 34, wherein the set of instructions for receiving the request to display the master first image at the first resolution without the user cancelling the scale-to-fit request comprises a set of instructions for receiving a request to disable a display of preview images.

36. The computer readable medium of claim 34, wherein receiving the request to disable the display of preview images causes an automatic display of the master first image in place of the preview second image.

37. The computer readable medium of claim 33, wherein the second resolution is equal to the first resolution.

38. The computer readable medium of claim 33, wherein the second resolution is less than the first resolution.
