Abstract

The mobile station 2-1 determines whether a current maximum transmission rate is sufficient or not in a predetermined cycle by using a maximum transmission rate R indicated by a pointer, a volume Q of data accumulated in the buffer 22-1 and a requested delay T determined according to service of data. The mobile station 2-1 transmits a determination result as an RR signal in a predetermined control signal field within an uplink E-DPCH to the base station 1. The base station 1 receives an RR signal from the mobile station 2-1, determines an increment/decrement of the maximum transmission rate allowed for the mobile station 2-1 to use such that a noise rise fails to exceed a predetermined threshold value and notifies the mobile station 2-1 of the determination as an RG signal by a downlink E-DPCCH. The mobile station 2-1 ups or downs the position of the pointer according to the RG signal.

Claims

1. A radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, in which

said base station comprises

a first transmission means for transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station and a second transmission means for transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal, and

said mobile station comprises

a reception means for, upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receiving a corresponding down packet,

a first determination means for determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit,

a second determination means for determining a transmission rate of the first channel based on the usable power, and

a transmission means for transmitting an up packet by the first channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a second channel of the uplink.

The radio communication system according to claim 1, wherein said first determination means considers remaining power obtained by extracting required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a first predetermined threshold value.

3. The radio communication system according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said mobile station preferentially reduces power of said first channel when required transmission power of said uplink exceeds the maximum power of the station itself.

The radio communication system according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein said base station determines whether down packet transmission to said mobile station is allowed or not according to the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval.

The radio communication system according to claim 4, wherein said base station refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in a second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval when the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a second predetermined threshold value.

The radio communication system according to claim 2, wherein said mobile station transmits a third channel of said uplink and controls transmission power of said third channel to meet required quality by closed-loop type transmission power control to consider power obtained by adding a predetermined power offset to power of said third channel as the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal.

The radio communication system according to claim 2, wherein said first determination means considers remaining power obtained by extracting the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from the maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is one or more.

8. The radio communication system according to claim 5, wherein said base station refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in the second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval when the number of transmissions of the down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is one or more.

9. A mobile station for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink provided between the station and the base station, comprising:

a reception means for, upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receiving a corresponding down packet;

a first determination means for determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit;

a second determination means for determining a transmission rate of the first channel based on the usable power; and

a transmission means for transmitting an up packet by the first channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a second channel of the uplink.

The mobile station according to claim 9, wherein said first determination means considers remaining power obtained by extracting required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a first predetermined threshold value.

11. The mobile station according to claim 9 or claim 10, which preferentially reduces power of said first channel when required transmission power of said uplink exceeds the maximum power of the station itself.

The mobile station according to claim 10, which transmits a third channel of said uplink and controls transmission power of said third channel to meet required quality by closed-loop type transmission power control to consider power obtained by adding a predetermined power offset to power of said third channel as the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal.

13. The mobile station according to claim 10, wherein said first determination means considers remaining power obtained by extracting the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from the maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is one or more.

14. A base station packet for transmission between the base station and a mobile station to be activated, comprising:

a first transmission means for transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station;

a second transmission means for transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal; and

a determination means for determining whether transmission of a down packet to the mobile station in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink is allowed or not according to the number of the down packet transmission notification signals transmitted to the mobile station in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit.

15. The base station according to claim 14, which, when the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a second predetermined threshold value, refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in a second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval.

16. The base station according to claim 15, which, when the number of transmissions of the down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is one or more, refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in the second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval.

17. A radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, in which

said base station transmits a down packet transmission notification signal and transmits a down packet after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal,

and said mobile station, upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receives a corresponding down packet, determines power usable in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit, determines a transmission rate of the first channel based on the usable power, transmits an up packet by the first channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmits a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a second channel of the uplink.

The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 17, wherein said mobile station considers remaining power obtained by extracting required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a first predetermined threshold value.

19. The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 17 or claim 18, wherein said mobile station preferentially reduces power of said first channel when required transmission power of said uplink exceeds the maximum power of the station itself.

The radio communication system controlling method according to any one of claims 17 to 19, wherein said base station determines whether down packet transmission to said mobile station is allowed or not according to the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval.

The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 20, wherein said base station refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in a second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval when the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a second predetermined threshold value.

The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 18, wherein said mobile station transmits a third channel of said uplink and controls transmission power of said third channel to meet required quality by closed-loop type transmission power control and considers power obtained by adding a predetermined power offset to the power of said third channel as the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal.

The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 18, wherein said mobile station considers remaining power obtained by extracting the required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from the maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is one or more.

The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 21, wherein said base station refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in the second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval when the number of transmissions of the down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is one or more.

25. A program of a radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, which causes a computer of the mobile station to execute

processing of, upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receiving a corresponding down packet,

processing of determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit,

processing of determining a transmission rate of the first channel based on the usable power, and

processing of transmitting an up packet by the first channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a second channel of the uplink.

26. A program of a radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, which causes a computer of the mobile station to execute

processing of transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station,

processing of transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal, and

processing of determining whether transmission of a down packet to the mobile station in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink is allowed or not according to the number of the down packet transmission notification signals transmitted to the mobile station in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit.

27. A radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, in which

said base station comprises

a means for transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station and transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal, and

said mobile station comprises

a means for, upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receiving a corresponding down packet,

a means for determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit,

a means for determining a transmission rate of the channel based on the usable power, and

a means for transmitting an up packet by the channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a channel of the uplink.

28. A mobile station for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink provided between the station and the base station, comprising:

a means for receiving a down packet corresponding to a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station,

a means for determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit;

a means for determining a transmission rate of the channel based on the usable power; and

a means for transmitting an up packet by the channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a channel of the uplink.

29. A base station for packet transmission between the base station and a mobile station to be activated, comprising:

a means for transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station and transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal; and

a means for determining whether transmission of a down packet to the mobile station in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink is allowed or not according to the number of the down packet transmission notification signals transmitted to the mobile station in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit.

30. A radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink between a base station and a mobile station, in which

said base station transmits a down packet transmission notification signal and transmits a down packet after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal,

and said mobile station receives a down packet corresponding to the down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, determines power usable in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit, determines a transmission rate of the channel based on the usable power, transmits an up packet by the channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmits a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a channel of the uplink.

31. A radio communication system for packet transmission between a base station and a mobile station to be activated, wherein

said base station includes

transmission means for transmitting a packet to said mobile station, and

said mobile station includes

reception means for receiving said packet, and

determination means for determining power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to the base station in response to said packet reception.

32. The radio communication system according to claim 31, wherein

said base station includes first transmission means for transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station and second transmission means for transmitting a packet to said mobile station, and

said determination means determines power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to said base station in response to reception of said packet transmission notification signal.

33. A mobile station for packet transmission to/from a base station to be activated, comprising:

reception means for receiving a packet transmitted from said base station, and

determination means for determining power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to the base station in response to said packet reception.

34. The mobile station according to claim 33, wherein said determination means determines power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to said base station in response to reception of a packet transmission notification signal transmitted from said base station.

35. A radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for packet transmission between a base station and a mobile station to be activated, wherein

at said base station, a packet is transmitted to said mobile station, and

at said mobile station, said packet is received to determine power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to the base station in response to said packet reception.

36. The radio communication system controlling method according to claim 35, wherein

at said base station, a packet transmission notification signal and a packet are transmitted, and

at said mobile station, power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to said base station is determined in response to reception of said packet transmission notification signal.

37. A program of a radio communication system controlling method of controlling a radio communication system for packet transmission between a base station and a mobile station to be activated, which causes a computer of said mobile station to execute

processing of receiving a packet from said base station, and

processing of determining power which can be used for a data channel to be transmitted to the base station in response to said packet reception.

38. A method of controlling a mobile station for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink provided between the station and the base station, including following steps:

upon receiving a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station, receiving a corresponding down packet;

determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit;

determining a transmission rate of the first channel based on the usable power; and

transmitting an up packet by the first channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a second channel of the uplink.

39. The method of controlling the mobile station according to claim 38, wherein

at said step of determining power, considering remaining power obtained by extracting required transmission power of said reception result notification signal from maximum power of the station itself as power usable for said first channel when the number of receptions of a down packet transmission notification signal directed to the station itself which is received in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a first predetermined threshold value.

40. A method of controlling a base station for packet transmission between the base station and a mobile station to be activated, including following steps:

transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station;

transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal; and

determining whether transmission of a down packet to the mobile station in each transmission time unit of a first channel of the uplink is allowed or not according to the number of the down packet transmission notification signals transmitted to the mobile station in a first predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit.

41. The method of controlling the base station according to claim 40, wherein

when the number of transmissions of said down packet transmission notification signal which is transmitted to said mobile station in said first predetermined time interval is larger than a second predetermined threshold value, refrains from transmitting a packet transmission notification signal to said mobile station in a second predetermined time interval after said first predetermined time interval.

42. A method of controlling a mobile station for high-speed packet transmission on an uplink and a downlink provided between the station and the base station, including following steps:

receiving a down packet corresponding to a down packet transmission notification signal directed to its own station,

determining power usable in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink according to the number of down packet transmission notification signals directed to its own station which have been received in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit;

determining a transmission rate of the channel based on the usable power; and

transmitting an up packet by the channel by using a determined transmission rate and transmitting a reception result notification signal of a down packet by a channel of the uplink.

43. A method of controlling a base station for packet transmission between the base station and a mobile station to be activated, including following steps:

transmitting a down packet transmission notification signal to the mobile station and transmitting a down packet to the mobile station after a predetermined time after the transmission of the down packet transmission notification signal; and

determining whether transmission of a down packet to the mobile station in each transmission time unit of a channel of the uplink is allowed or not according to the number of the down packet transmission notification signals transmitted to the mobile station in a predetermined time interval prior to the relevant transmission time unit.
