Abstract

A method and system for automatically pausing a remote voicemail recording to answer an incoming call and to notify an incoming caller of a user voicemail interaction. A command to pause the voicemail recording can be determined by the user prior to establishing the voicemail recording. Upon receiving an incoming call the user can be notified of the incoming call prior to terminating the voicemail recording. The command for pausing voicemail recording can be sent to a voicemail system to pause the voicemail recording if the user opts to receive the incoming call. When the call is concluded, the user can be returned to the voicemail system with options such as resume recording, playback, delete, or cancel the message.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for voicemail pausing, comprising:

notifying a user of an incoming call via a status indicator upon establishment by said user of a voicemail recording, in order to leave a message with an external system and pause said voicemail recording by sending a command in response to said user indicating a desire to receive said incoming call; and

automatically resuming said voicemail recording with respect to said user by a call switching component, if said incoming call is terminated and said message processed based upon preferences of user utilizing a plurality of options.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1 further comprising;

determining said command, wherein said command permits said user to pause said voicemail recording prior to establishing said voicemail recording; and

notifying an incoming caller about a voicemail interaction by said user in order to wait for completion of said voicemail recording utilizing a message recorded by said user.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein said command comprises a digital signal and/or a key tone for said voicemail manipulation.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 1 wherein said plurality of options comprises a pause option, a resume option, a repeat option and a delete option associated with said message.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 2 further comprising permitting said user to select a plurality of users in order to automatically distinguish said incoming caller from said plurality of users.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1 further comprising;

determining said command, wherein said command permits said user to pause said voicemail recording prior to establishing said voicemail recording; and

notifying an incoming caller about a voicemail interaction by said user in order to wait for completion of said voicemail recording utilizing a message recorded by said user, wherein said user can select a plurality of users in order to automatically distinguish said incoming caller from said plurality of users.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 1 further comprising.

normalizing an audio level of said message associated with a processing of said voicemail recording in order to minimize a disparity in voice and a background noise when said message is resumed.

8. A system, comprising:

a processor;

a data bus coupled to said processor; and

a computer-usable medium embodying computer code, said computer-usable medium being coupled to said data bus, said computer program code comprising instructions executable by said processor and configured for;

notifying a user of an incoming call via a status indicator upon establishment by said user of a voicemail recording, in order to leave a message with an external system and pause said voicemail recording by sending a command in response to said user indicating a desire to receive said incoming call; and

automatically resuming said voicemail recording with respect to said user by a call switching component, if said incoming call is terminated and said message processed based upon preferences of user utilizing a plurality of options.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein said instructions are further configured for:

determining said command, wherein said command permits said user to pause said voicemail recording prior to establishing said voicemail recording; and

notifying an incoming caller about a voicemail interaction by said user in order to wait for completion of said voicemail recording utilizing a message recorded by said user.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein said command comprises a digital signal and/or a key tone for said voicemail manipulation.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein said plurality of options comprises a pause option, a resume option, a repeat option and a delete option associated with said message.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein said instructions are further configured for:

permitting said user to select a plurality of users in order to automatically distinguish said incoming caller from said plurality of users.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein said instructions are further configured for:

normalizing an audio level of said message associated with a processing of said voicemail recording in order to minimize a disparity in voice and a background noise when said message is resumed.

14. A computer-usable medium embodying computer program code, said computer program code comprising computer executable instructions configured for:

notifying a user of an incoming call via a status indicator upon establishment by said user of a voicemail recording, in order to leave a message with an external system and pause said voicemail recording by sending a command in response to said user indicating a desire to receive said incoming call; and

automatically resuming said voicemail recording with respect to said user by a call switching component, if said incoming call is terminated and said message processed based upon preferences of user utilizing a plurality of options.

15. The computer-usable medium of claim 14, wherein said embodied computer program code further comprises computer executable instructions configured for:

determining said command, wherein said command permits said user to pause said voicemail recording prior to establishing said voicemail recording; and

notifying an incoming caller about a voicemail interaction by said user in order to wait for completion of said voicemail recording utilizing a message recorded by said user.

16. The computer-usable medium of claim 14, wherein said command comprises a digital signal and/or a key tone for said voicemail manipulation.

17. The computer-usable medium of claim 14, wherein said plurality of options comprises a pause option, a resume option, a repeat option and a delete option associated with said message.

18. The computer-usable medium of claim 15, wherein said embodied computer program code further comprises computer executable instructions configured for:

permitting said user to select a plurality of users in order to automatically distinguish said incoming caller from said plurality of users.

19. The computer-usable medium of claim 14, wherein said embodied computer program code further comprises computer executable instructions configured for:

determining said command, wherein said command permits said user to pause said voicemail recording prior to establishing said voicemail recording; and

notifying an incoming caller about a voicemail interaction by said user in order to wait for completion of said voicemail recording utilizing a message recorded by said user, wherein said user can select a plurality of users in order to automatically distinguish said incoming caller from said plurality of users.

20. The computer-usable medium of claim 14, wherein said embodied computer program code further comprises computer executable instructions configured for:
