a second connector coupled to the cable and having a second pin configuration different from the first pin configuration; and
a circuit board including a programmable device electrically coupled in circuit between the first connector and the second connector, the programmable device being configurable to translate a first signal from the first connector to a second signal for the second connector.

37. A method of operating a circuit that connects a first node to a second node, the circuit including
a connection to a power source, a connection to an electrical ground with a diode, a first circuit having a resistor, and a second circuit having a capacitor, the second circuit being in parallel configuration with the first circuit, the method comprising: -
generating a positive voltage; maintaining the first node above a predetermined threshold; generating a signal in response to detecting a negative voltage with the second node; drawing a current from the power source as a result of an excessive negative voltage detected with the second node. - View Dependent Claims (38)

39. A circuit that connects a first node to a second node, the circuit comprising:

a sensor circuit operate to detect a negative voltage, the sensor circuit including a first connection coupling the sensor circuit to the first node, a second connection coupling the sensor circuit to the second node, and a first diode between the first connection and the second connection, the first diode operable to bias at least a current from the second node to the first node; and a protector circuit operable to generate a current in response to a relatively high negative voltage present at the first node, the protector circuit including a third connection coupling the protector circuit to a power source; a fourth connection coupling the protector circuit to an electrical ground, the fourth connection having a diode operable to bias current to the electrical ground; a first circuit having a resistor; and a second circuit having a capacitor, the second circuit being in parallel configuration with the first circuit, the first circuit cooperating with the second circuit to generate a reference voltage.
