Abstract

A wireless headset has a body, an ear clip, and at least two devices for converting at least two different sources of energy into electrical power. The body includes an RF integrated circuit in electrical communication with an antenna and a baseband circuit, the baseband circuit being in electrical communication with a microphone and a speaker. The at least two devices for converting at least two different sources of energy into electrical power are in electrical communication with the RF integrated circuit and the baseband circuit. The ear clip is engaged to the body. The at least two sources of energy are selected from the group consisting of solar energy, thermoelectric energy, piezoelectric energy, and vibration energy.

Claims

1. A wireless headset, the headset comprising:

a body, the body comprising an RF integrated circuit in electrical communication with an antenna and a baseband circuit, the baseband circuit in electrical communication with a microphone and a speaker;

an ear clip, the ear clip engaged to the body; and

at least two devices for converting at least two different sources of energy into electrical power, the at least two devices for converting at least two different sources of energy into electrical power being in electrical communication with the RF integrated circuit and the baseband circuit, wherein the at least two different sources of electrical power are selected from the group consisting of solar energy, thermoelectric energy, piezoelectric energy, and vibration energy.

2. The wireless headset of claim 1, wherein the RF integrated circuit is Bluetooth-based.

3. The wireless headset of claim 1, wherein one of the at least two devices comprises at least one microgenerator, the at least one microgenerator constructed and arranged to convert vibration energy.

4. The wireless headset of claim 3, wherein the vibration energy is converted by a first microgenerator and a second microgenerator, the first microgenerator oriented on a vertical axis, the second microgenerator oriented on a horizontal axis.

5. The wireless headset of claim 4, wherein the ear clip comprises at least one of the first microgenerator and the second microgenerator.

6. The wireless headset of claim 1, wherein the piezoelectric energy is converted by a piezoelectric transducer, the piezoelectric transducer comprising polyvinylidene difluoride.

7. The wireless headset of claim 1, wherein one of the at least two devices comprises at least one solar cell, the at least one solar cell constructed and arranged to convert solar energy.

8. The wireless headset of claim 1, wherein one of the at least two devices comprises at least one thermoelectric generator, the at least one thermoelectric generator constructed and arranged to the convert temperature differences into electrical power.

9. The wireless headset of claim 8, wherein a thermally conductive material engaged to the at least one thermoelectric generator is constructed and arranged to fit within a user'"'"'s ear canal.

10. The wireless headset of claim 8, wherein a thermally conductive material engaged to the at least one thermoelectric generator is engaged to the ear clip.

11. The wireless headset of claim 1, further comprising at least two electrical components, wherein each of the at least two devices for converting at least two different sources of energy is in electrical communication with an input of one of the at least two electrical components, the at least two electrical components selected from the group consisting of a full wave rectifier and a regulator.

12. The wireless headset of claim 11, wherein each of the at least two electrical components includes an output, each output in electrical communication with a power multiplexer.

13. The wireless headset of claim 12, wherein the power multiplexer is in electrical communication with an energy storage device.

14. A wireless headset, the headset comprising:

a body, the body comprising an RF integrated circuit in electrical communication with an antenna and a baseband circuit, the baseband circuit in electrical communication with a microphone and a speaker;

an ear clip, the ear clip engaged to the body; and

three devices for converting three different sources of energy into electrical power, the three devices for converting three different sources of energy into electrical power being in electrical communication with the RF integrated circuit and the baseband circuit, wherein the three different sources of energy selected from the group consisting of solar energy, thermoelectric energy, piezoelectric energy, and vibration energy.

The wireless headset of claim 14, wherein one of the three devices comprises a first microgenerator and a second microgenerator, the first microgenerator and the second microgenerator constructed and arranged to convert vibration energy, the first microgenerator oriented on a vertical axis, the second microgenerator oriented on a horizontal axis.

16. The wireless headset of claim 15, wherein the ear clip comprises at least one of the first microgenerator and the second microgenerator.

17. The wireless headset of claim 14, wherein one of the three devices comprises at least one solar cell, the at least one solar cell constructed and arranged to convert solar energy.

18. The wireless headset of claim 14, wherein one of the three devices comprises at least one thermoelectric generator, the at least one thermoelectric generator constructed and arranged to the convert temperature differences into electrical power.

19. The wireless headset of claim 18, wherein a thermally conductive material engaged to the at least one thermoelectric generator is constructed and arranged to fit within a user'"'"'s ear canal.

20. A wireless headset, the headset comprising:

a body, the body comprising a Bluetooth-based RF integrated circuit in electrical communication with an antenna and a baseband circuit, the baseband circuit in electrical communication with a microphone and a speaker;

an ear clip, the ear clip engaged to the body;

three devices for converting three different sources of energy into electrical power, the three devices for converting three different sources of energy into electrical power being in electrical communication with the RF integrated circuit and the baseband circuit, wherein the three different sources of energy selected from the group consisting of solar energy, thermoelectric energy, piezoelectric energy, and vibration energy;

at least three electrical components, wherein each of the three devices is in electrical communication with an input of one of the at least three electrical components, the at least three electrical components selected from the group consisting of a full wave rectifier and a regulator, and wherein each of the at least three electrical components includes an output, each output in electrical communication with a power multiplexer, wherein the power multiplexer is in electrical communication with a supercapacitor.
