1. Method for determining the flow in a blood vessel, comprising ofa) determining the relation between the average shear rate and the electrical impedance of flowing blood,b) measuring the electrical impedance in the blood in a cross-section of the blood vessel,c) determining the average shear rate from this relation and the measured electrical impedance,d) determining the size of the cross-section of the blood vessel,e) selecting a theoretical relative flow distribution over the blood vessel cross-section,f) determining the average flow speed on the basis of the shear rate and the relative flow distribution, andg) determining the flow volume from the determined average flow speed and the cross-section.
