Abstract

Website presence includes receiving aggregated website presence information describing website presence information for one or more objects of a website, and displaying the aggregated website presence information based at least in part on a website object profile for an object of the website. Cross-website presence includes receiving aggregated website presence information from a first one or more websites, and publishing the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribing websites. The website presence information describes one or more of the state of a website object regarding its participation in a communication session, the ability of the website object to participate in a communication session, and the willingness of the website object to participate in a communication session. Each of the one or more objects represents an entity associated with the website.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

subscribing to website presence information of one or more other affiliated websites; and

agreeing to provide website presence information to the one or more other affiliated websites.

2. A method comprising:

publishing aggregated website presence information for a particular website to a first one or more other websites;

receiving aggregated website presence information from a second one or more other websites; and

sending the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribers.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising applying one or more access controls to the aggregated website presence information before the sending.

4. The method of claim 2 wherein the first one or more other websites and the second one or more other websites are the same.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the aggregated website presence information is based at least in part on:

a website presence selected by a website object;

a website presence supplied by the website object; and

activity of the website object at the website.

6. A method comprising:

receiving aggregated website presence information from a first one or more websites; and

publishing the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribing websites.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising applying one or more access controls to the received aggregated website presence information before the publishing.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the first one or more websites and the one or more subscribing websites are the same.

9. An apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

a processor configured to;

subscribe to website presence information of one or more other affiliated websites; and

agree to provide website presence information to the one or more other affiliated websites.

10. An apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

a processor configured to;

publish aggregated website presence information for a particular website to a first one or more other websites;

receive aggregated website presence information from a second one or more other websites; and

send the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribers.

11. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the processor is further configured to apply one or more access controls to the aggregated website presence information before the sending.

12. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the first one or more other websites and the second one or more other websites are the same.

13. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the aggregated website presence information is based at least in part on:

a website presence selected by a website object;

a website presence supplied by the website object; and

activity of the website object at the website.

14. An apparatus comprising:

a memory; and

a processor configured to;

receive aggregated website presence information from a first one or more websites; and

publish the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribing websites.

15. The apparatus of claim 14 wherein the processor is further configured to apply one or more access controls to the received aggregated website presence information before the publishing.

16. The apparatus of claim 14 wherein the first one or more websites and the one or more subscribing websites are the same.

17. An apparatus comprising:

means for subscribing to website presence information of one or more other affiliated websites; and

means for agreeing to provide website presence information to the one or more other affiliated websites.

18. An apparatus comprising:

means for publishing aggregated website presence information for a particular website to a first one or more other websites;

means for receiving aggregated website presence information from a second one or more other websites; and

means for sending the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribers.

19. The apparatus of claim 18, further comprising means for applying one or more access controls to the aggregated website presence information before the sending.

20. The apparatus of claim 18 wherein the first one or more other websites and the second one or more other websites are the same.

21. The apparatus of claim 18 wherein the aggregated website presence information is based at least in part on:

a website presence selected by a website object;

a website presence supplied by the website object; and

activity of the website object at the website.

22. An apparatus comprising:

means for receiving aggregated website presence information from a first one or more websites; and

means for publishing the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribing websites.

23. The apparatus of claim 22, further comprising means for applying one or more access controls to the received aggregated website presence information before the publishing.

24. The apparatus of claim 22 wherein the first one or more websites and the one or more subscribing websites are the same.

25. A program storage device readable by a machine, embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform a method, the method comprising:

subscribing to website presence information of one or more other affiliated websites; and

agreeing to provide website presence information to the one or more other affiliated websites.

26. A program storage device readable by a machine, embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform a method, the method comprising:

publishing aggregated website presence information for a particular website to a first one or more other websites;

receiving aggregated website presence information from a second one or more other websites; and

sending the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribers.

27. The program storage device of claim 26, the method further comprising applying one or more access controls to the aggregated website presence information before the sending.

28. The program storage device of claim 26 wherein the first one or more other websites and the second one or more other websites are the same.

29. The program storage device of claim 26 wherein the aggregated website presence information is based at least in part on:

a website presence selected by a website object;

a website presence supplied by the website object; and

activity of the website object at the website.

30. A program storage device readable by a machine, embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform a method, the method comprising:

publishing the received aggregated website presence information to one or more subscribing websites.
