Abstract

An information management device and method, an information processing device and method, a recording medium, and a program that allow the provision of optimum content to each individual user are provided. In a Pochara service server 9, a matching is executed between the feature information of music selection Pochara and the feature information of the user of a personal computer 22 updated in response to the replies to questions asked by a music selection Pochara, thereby selecting a music selection Pochara which is optimum to the feelings of the user of the personal computer 22 at that time. On the personal computer 22, the image of the selected music selection Pochara is displayed and music content is selected by this music selection Pochara. The present invention is applicable to various kinds of devices such as personal computers that have a communication capability and a display capability.

Claims

1. An information management device for managing provision of content information to an information processing device connected to said information management device via a network, comprising:

storage means for storing identification information of an IC chip and for storing content information associated with the IC chip;

selection means for selecting the IC chip from among a plurality of IC chips of which identification information is stored in said storage means; and

content transmission means for transmitting the content information associated with the IC chip to said information processing device.

2. An information management device according to claim 1, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes an updated log of content use information.

3. An information management device according to claim 1, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes bank account information.

4. An information management device according to claim 1, wherein the storage means stores data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip;

and wherein the content transmission means transmits the data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip to the information processing device.

5. An information managing method for an information management device for managing content provision to an information processing device connected to said information management device via a network, comprising:

storing identification information of an IC chip and content information associated with the IC chip;

selecting the IC chip from among a plurality of IC chips of which identification information is stored in the information management device; and

transmitting the content information associated with the IC chip to said information processing device.

6. An information managing method according to claim 5, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes an updated log of content use information.

7. An information managing method according to claim 5, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes bank account information.

8. An information managing method according to claim 5, further storing data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip;

and transmitting the data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip to the information processing device.

9. A computer product embodied in a computer readable medium storing a program for making a computer for controlling an information management device for managing content provision to an information processing device connected to said information management device via a network execute the steps of:

controlling storage of identification information of an IC chip and content information associated with the IC chip;

controlling selection of the IC chip from among a plurality of IC chips of which identification information is stored in the information management device; and

controlling transmission of the content information associated with the IC chip to said information processing device.

10. A computer product according to claim 9, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes an updated log of content use information.

11. A computer product according to claim 9, wherein the content information associated with the IC chip includes bank account information.

12. A computer product according to claim 9, further controlling the storage of data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip;

and

controlling the transmission of the data necessary for the information processing device to display the content information associated with the IC chip to the information processing device.

13. An information processing device connected, via a network, to an information management device for managing content provision, comprising:

read means for reading identification information from an IC chip in which the identification information is held;

identification information transmission means for transmitting the identification information to the information management device;

content acquisition means for acquiring content information associated with the identification information from the information management device; and

output means for outputting the acquired content information.

14. An information processing device according to claim 13, wherein the content information includes an updated log of content use information.

15. An information processing device according to claim 13, wherein the content information includes bank account information.

16. An information processing method for an information processing device connected, via a network, to an information management device for managing content provision, comprising:

reading identification information from an IC chip in which the identification information is held;

transmitting the identification information to the information management device;

acquiring content information associated with the identification information from the information management device; and

outputting the acquired content information.

17. An information processing method according to claim 16, wherein the content information includes an updated log of content use information.

18. An information processing method according to claim 16, wherein the content information includes bank account information.

19. A computer product embodied in a computer readable medium storing a program for making a computer for controlling an information processing device connected, via a network, to an information management device for managing content provision execute the steps of:

controlling the reading of identification information from an IC chip in which the identification information is held;

controlling the transmission of the identification information to the information management device;

controlling the acquiring of content information associated with the identification information from the information management device; and

controlling the output of the acquired content information.

20. A computer product according to claim 19, wherein the content information includes an updated log of content use information.

21. A computer product according to claim 19, wherein the content information includes bank account information.
