Abstract

A method and apparatus for transmitting a SystemInfo block in an Active state in a wireless communication system is described. The SystemInfo block is transmitted every N_{pBCH0—Period} superframe. The SystemInfo block is carried over a primary broadcast channel (pBCH0) physical channel by a control channel medium access control (MAC) protocol. The SystemInfo block is prevented from passing through a signaling transport. The SystemInfo block is transmitted on each carrier if a multi-carrier mode is MultiCarrierOn, where the contents of the SystemInfo block is identical for all carriers except for a CarrierID, a FLReservedInterlaces and a NumFLReservedSubband

Claims

1. A method of transmitting a SystemInfo block in an active state, characterized in that:

transmitting the SystemInfo block every N<sub>pBCH0—

Period</sub> superframe;

carrying the SystemInfo block over a primary broadcast channel (pBCH0) physical channel by a control channel medium access control (MAC) protocol;

preventing the SystemInfo block from passing through a signaling transport; and

transmitting the SystemInfo block on each carrier if a multi-carrier mode is MultiCarrierOn, the contents of the SystemInfo block being identical for all carriers except for a CarrierID, a FLReservedInterlaces and a NumFLReservedSubband.

2. A computer readable medium including instruction stored thereon, comprising:

a first set of instructions for transmitting a SystemInfo block every N<sub>pBCH0—

Period</sub> superframe;

a second set of instructions for carrying the SystemInfo block over a primary broadcast channel (pBCH0) physical channel by a control channel medium access control (C) protocol;

a third set of instructions for preventing the SystemInfo block from passing through a signaling transport; and

a fourth set of instructions for transmitting the SystemInfo block on each carrier if a multi-carrier mode is MultiCarrierOn, the contents of the SystemInfo block being identical for all carriers except for a CarrierID, a FLReservedInterlaces and a NumFLReservedSubband.

3. An apparatus operable in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

means for transmitting a SystemInfo block every N<sub>pBCH0—

Period</sub> superframe;

means for carrying the SystemInfo block over a primary broadcast channel (pBCH0) physical channel by a control channel medium access control (WAC) protocol;

means for preventing the SystemInfo block from passing through a signaling transport; and

means for transmitting the SystemInfo block on each carrier if a multi-carrier mode is MultiCarrierOn, the contents of the SystemInfo block being identical for all carriers except for a CarrierID, a FLReservedInterlaces and a NumFLReservedSubband

4. A method for processing a SystemInfo block in an active state, characterized in that:

receiving the SystemInfo block; and

placing the received SystemInfo block, indexed by a PilotPN and a CarrierID, in public data.

5. A computer readable medium including instruction stored thereon, characterized in that:

a first set of instructions for receiving a SystemInfo block; and

a second set of instructions for placing the received SystemInfo block, indexed by a PilotPN and a CarrierID, in public data.

6. An apparatus operable in a wireless communication system, characterized in that:

means for receiving a SystemInfo block; and

means for placing the received SystemInfo block, indexed by a PilotPN and a CarrierID, in public data.
