Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for conducting interlayer motion prediction in encoding or decoding of video signal. The present method checks whether at least one of vertically-adjacent two macro blocks on a base layer is intra mode, and if only one of the two macro blocks is identified to intra mode, motion information of an inter-mode macro block of the two macro blocks is copied to the other intra-mode macro block in order to set the intra-mode macro block to a macro block having motion information.

6. A method for encoding or decoding a video signal, the method comprising:

a) deriving motion information of two macroblocks from motion information of a single field macroblock of a base layer or motion information of a single field macroblock selected from a pair of vertically adjacent field macroblocks of the base layer; and

b) using the derived motion information as prediction information of motion information of a pair of frame macroblocks of a current layer.

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the method includes:

extending the single field macroblock to two macroblocks and obtaining respective partition modes of the two macroblocks based on a partition mode extended according to the extension;

obtaining respective reference indices of two 8×

8 blocks in the two macroblocks, corresponding to an 8×

8 block in the single field macroblock according to an enlargement association of the single macroblock with the two macroblocks, by associating a reference index of the 8×

8 block in the single field macroblock with each of the reference indices of the two 8×

8 blocks; and

obtaining respective motion vectors of two 4×

4 blocks in the two macroblocks, corresponding to an 4×

4 block in the single field macroblock according to an enlargement association of the single macroblock with the two macroblocks, by associating a motion vector of the 4×

4 block in the single field macroblock with each of the motion vectors of the two 4×

4 blocks.

8. The method according to claim 7, wherein the step of obtaining the respective partition modes of the two macroblocks includes obtaining respective block modes of the two macroblocks in such a manner that block modes of 4×

4, 8×

4, and 16×

8 blocks in the single field macroblock are set to block modes extended twice in a vertical direction and each block mode of other blocks is set to two block modes of the same size.

9. The method according to claim 6, wherein the method includes:

obtaining respective reference indices of two 8×

8 blocks in the two macroblocks, corresponding to an 8×

8 block in the single field macroblock according to an enlargement association of the single macroblock with the two macroblocks, by associating a reference index of the 8×

8 block in the single field macroblock with each of the reference indices of the two 8×

8 blocks;

obtaining respective motion vectors of two 4×

4 blocks in the two macroblocks, corresponding to an 4×

4 block in the single field macroblock according to an enlargement association of the single macroblock with the two macroblocks, by associating a motion vector of the 4×

4 block in the single field macroblock with each of the motion vectors of the two 4×

4 blocks; and

obtaining respective partition modes of the two macroblocks based on the obtained reference indices and motion vectors.

The method according to claim 6, wherein, if the pair of field macroblocks includes an intra-mode macroblock and an inter-mode macroblock, the step a) includes selecting the inter-mode macroblock and using motion information of the selected inter-mode macroblock for deriving respective motion information of the two macroblocks.

The method according to claim 6, wherein the step a) includes copying information of the single field macroblock to additionally construct a pair of field macroblocks and deriving respective motion information of the two macroblocks from respective motion information of the constructed pair of field macroblocks.

12. A method for encoding or decoding a video signal, the method comprising:

a) confirming whether or not at least one of two vertically adjacent macroblocks of a base layer is of intra mode; and

b) copying, if it is confirmed that only one of the two macroblocks is of intra mode, motion information of an inter-mode macroblock included in the two macroblocks to the intra-mode macroblock to set the intra-mode macroblock to a block having motion information.

13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the copied motion information is information about a motion vector and a reference index.

14. The method according to claim 12, further comprising:

determining partition modes of the two macroblocks using motion information of the two macroblocks after the step of setting the intra-mode macroblock to the block having motion information.

15. The method according to claim 12, wherein the two macroblocks are macroblocks of a frame component image.

16. The method according to claim 15, wherein the motion information of the two macroblocks is used in interlayer motion prediction of a pair of macroblocks of a field component image of an upper layer of the base layer.
