Abstract

Prosthesis for implantation in the ascending aorta comprising a tubular body made of biocompatible graft material, a cuff at the proximal portion of the tubular body for biasing pressure onto a sino-tubular junction and that is configured to conform to the junction. A stent assembly can also be used to the prosthesis to bias pressure on the wall of a dissection to substantially deflate a false lumen.

Claims

1. A prosthesis for implantation in the ascending aorta comprising:

a tubular body comprising biocompatible graft material;

a cuff at the proximal portion of the tubular body for biasing pressure onto a sino-tubular junction of an ascending thoracic aorta and is configured to conform to the sino-tubular junction; and

at least one stent.

2. The prosthesis of claim 1 further comprising at least one stent defining a second tubular body for engaging an endoluminal wall.

3. The prosthesis of claim 2 wherein the second tubular body is adapted for implantation in the descending aorta.

4. The prosthesis of claim 2 wherein the second tubular body can be coupled to the tubular body.

5. The prosthesis of claim 2 wherein the second section comprises biocompatible graft material.

6. The prosthesis of claim 1 further comprising at least one socket for receiving a secondary prosthesis.

7. The prosthesis of claim 6 wherein the at least one socket corresponds to an aortic branch artery.

8. The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein the tubular body further comprises a helical socket.

9. The prosthesis of claim 1 wherein the cuff further comprises a proximal ring adjacent to the tubular body and a distal ring.

10. The prosthesis of claim 9 wherein the distal ring has a larger diameter than the proximal ring.

11. The prosthesis of claim 10 wherein the proximal ring and the distal ring are comprised of nitinol or stainless steel.

12. The prosthesis of claim 1 comprising any two or more of the following:

at least one stent defining a second tubular body for engaging an endoluminal wall;

the second tubular body is adapted for implantation in the descending aorta;

the second tubular body can be coupled to the tubular body;

the second section comprises biocompatible graft material;

at least one socket for receiving a secondary prosthesis;

the at least one socket corresponds to an aortic branch artery;

the tubular body further comprises a helical socket; and

the cuff further comprises a proximal ring adjacent to the tubular body and a distal ring.

13. A prosthesis for implantation in the ascending aorta comprising:

a first tubular body comprising biocompatible graft material and at least one stent;

a cuff at the proximal portion of the tubular body for biasing pressure onto a sino-tubular junction of an ascending thoracic aorta and is configured to conform to the sino-tubular junction; and

at least one stent defining a second tubular body attachable to the first tubular body for engaging an endoluminal wall.

14. A method for deploying a prosthesis in the aorta using a deployment device comprising:

deploying a guidewire through the aortic valve;

implanting in the ascending aorta a prosthesis comprising a tubular biocompatible graft material body with a proximal cuff configured to conform to the sino-tubular junction;

placing the cuff in the sino-tubular junction; and

withdrawing the deployment device.

15. The method of claim 14 further comprising implanting in the descending aorta a second tubular body comprising at least one stent for biasing pressure to a vessel wall.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising coupling the second tubular body to the first endovascular prosthesis.

17. The method of claim 15 further comprising expanding the second tubular body.

18. The method of claim 14 wherein the prosthesis further comprises at least one socket that corresponds to an aortic branch artery, the method further comprising deploying a portion of a secondary endovascular prosthesis into the at least one socket.

19. The method of claim 14 wherein the prosthesis biases pressure to the vessel wall in the ascending aorta.

20. The method of claim 14 comprising any two or more of the following:

further comprising implanting in the descending aorta a second tubular body comprising at least one stent for biasing pressure to a vessel wall;

further comprising coupling the second tubular body to the first endovascular prosthesis;

further comprising expanding the second tubular body;

the prosthesis further comprises at least one socket that corresponds to an aortic branch artery, the method further comprising deploying a portion of a secondary endovascular prosthesis into the at least one socket.
