  • a tip for interacting with an encoded substrate, said substrate comprising a printed position-coding pattern identifying the substrate and a plurality of locations on the substrate;

    a microphone for recording audio;

    an audio output device for playing said recorded audio;

    an image sensor for capturing images of at least part of the position-coding pattern;

    a processor configured for determining one or more positions on said substrate using captured images of the position-coding pattern;

    means for associating recorded audio with one or more positions on said substrate;

    means for storing said recorded audio associated with said one or more positions; and

    an electronic display for displaying information to a user;

    wherein, in said audio recording mode, said pen is configured to;

    activate said microphone for recording audio;

    determine, using said image sensor and said processor, one or more positions on said encoded substrate during interaction with said substrate; and

    associate said one or more positions with said recorded audio, and further wherein, in said audio playback mode, said pen is configured to;
