1. A method of generating a second interactive substrate in response to a first interactive substrate, the first interactive substrate comprising a first printed interface surface having first visible information and a collection of first coded data tags printed thereon, each first tag identifying an identity of the first substrate and a position of the tag on the first surface, said method comprising the steps of:

  • interacting with the first interface surface using an optically imaging pen, said pen having a nib;

    imaging and decoding at least one first coded data tag;

    generating indicating data regarding the identity of the first interactive substrate and a position of the nib relative to the first printed surface;

    sending the indicating data to a computer system, thereby causing a printer to print a second interactive substrate in response to the computer system receiving the indicating data, said second interactive substrate comprising a second printed interface surface having second visible information and a collection of second coded data tags printed thereon, each second tag identifying an identity of the second interactive substrate and a position of the tag on the second surface.
