Abstract

The invention concerns a water treatment device comprising a reactor (1) and means for injecting (2) at least one reagent into said reactor, characterized in that it comprises means for supporting said injection means mobile relative to said reactor (1) between an active position whereby the injecting means (2) are arranged inside said reactor and a retracted position whereby the injecting means (2) are brought outside said reactor.

22. A water treatment system for treating water containing minerals, comprising:

a reactor for treating and holding water, the reactor including at least one inlet for directing water into the reactor;

a reagent dispensing device for directing reagents into the reactor, the reagent dispensing device comprising;

a carrier frame supporting a plurality of nozzles, the carrier frame being moveable relative to the reactor between a retracted position and an active position, wherein in the active position the carrier frame is disposed within the reactor and in the retracted position the carrier frame is disposed outside of the reactor;

the plurality of nozzles operable for injecting reagents into the reactor such that the reagents treat the water in the reactor;

a plurality of reagent feed lines operatively connected to the plurality of nozzles for feeding reagents to the plurality of nozzles; and

a lifting device for moving the carrier frame between the reacted position and the active position.

23. The water treatment system of claim 22 wherein the carrier frame includes:

a circular rim extending around a central space;

a plurality of radials extending inwardly from the circular rim to the central space, the plurality of radials operatively connected to the plurality of nozzles;

a central support extending upwardly from the plurality of radials, the central support having a proximal end and a distal end; and

wherein the plurality of radials is operatively connected to the proximal end of the central support and the lifting device is removably coupled to a distal end of the central support.

The water treatment system of claim 23 further comprising a telescopic arm operatively connected to the lifting device for moving the reagent dispensing device from a position directly above the reactor to a position laterally adjacent to the reactor when the carrier frame is in the retracted position, the telescopic arm extending generally transverse to the central support.

25. The water treatment system of claim 23 wherein each radial is spaced within the central space such that each radial forms an approximately 120°

angle with one of the other radials.

26. The water treatment system of claim 22 wherein the reactor includes a base comprising a reinforced PVC material such that the base is resistant to erosion.

27. The water treatment system of claim 22 wherein the reactor includes a base and a plurality of inlets extending through the base for directing water into the reactor.

28. The water treatment system of claim 22 wherein the carrier frame includes:

a circular rim extending around a central space;

a plurality of radials extending inwardly from the circular rim to the central space, the plurality of radials operatively connected to the plurality of nozzles;

a central support extending upwardly from the plurality of radials, the central support having a proximal end and a distal end;

wherein the plurality of radials is operatively connected to the proximal end of the central support and the lifting device is removably coupled to a distal end of the central support; and

wherein each radial is spaced within the central space such that each radial forms an approximately 120°

angle with one of the other radials.

29. The water treatment system of claim 22 further comprising:

a telescopic arm operatively connected to the lifting device for moving the reagent dispensing device from a position directly above the reactor to a position laterally adjacent to the reactor when the carrier frame is in the retracted position, the telescopic arm extending generally transverse to the lifting device;

the reactor having a base comprising a reinforced PVC material so that the base is resistant to erosion; and

a plurality of inlets extending through the base for directing water into the reactor.

30. A method of treating water containing minerals comprising:

supplying water to a reactor through an inlet;

directing a carrier frame supporting a plurality of nozzles from a reacted position outside of the reactor to an active position inside the reactor;

supplying an alkaline reagent to the plurality of nozzles through feed lines operatively connected to the plurality of nozzles; and

when the carrier frame is in the active position, injecting the alkaline reagent from the plurality of nozzles into the reactor thereby allowing the alkaline reagent to treat the water in the reactor.

31. The method of claim 30 wherein a lifting device is removably connected to the carrier frame and is operable to move the carrier frame between the retracted position and the active position, the method further comprising:

directing the carrier frame from the retracted position to the active position to inject the alkaline reagent into the reactor; and

after injecting the alkaline reagent into the reactor, directing the carrier frame from the active position to the retracted position.

32. The method of claim 31 wherein a telescopic arm is operatively connected to the lifting device, the method further comprising directing the carrier frame with the telescopic arm from the retracted position to the position laterally adjacent to the reactor.

33. The method of claim 32 wherein when the carrier frame is in the position laterally adjacent to the reactor the method further comprises removing the carrier frame from the lifting device and replacing the carrier frame with a second similar carrier frame.

34. The method of claim 30 wherein supplying water to the reactor comprises upwardly injecting water into the reactor through a plurality of inlets disposed on a base of the reactor.

35. The method of claim 30 wherein a lifting device is removably connected to the carrier frame and is operable to move the carrier frame between the retracted position and the active position and a telescopic arm is operatively connected to the lifting device, the method further comprising:

directing the carrier frame from the retracted position to the active position to inject the alkaline reagent into the reactor;

after injecting the alkaline reagent into the reactor, directing the carrier frame from the active position to the retracted position;

directing the carrier frame with the telescopic arm from the retracted position to the position laterally adjacent to the reactor; and

when the carrier frame is in the position laterally adjacent to the reactor the method further comprises removing the carrier frame from the lifting device and replacing the carrier frame with a second similar carrier frame.
